Chi-Chi Jima 1945 Scenery Uploaded

No just delete that folder. There is a new upload with that folder removed. Also do not install the terrain.cfg file if you find one in your download. Sorry for the confusion.

Fantastic shots Roger. I also love the Raiden.

Finding George. : )

traiin cfg.

Hi Roger,

just delete it or don't copy it, you're right, it belongs into the scenery folder where it actually is.

The terrain.cfg must ___not___ be copied, sorry, don't know how it got into the installation files.

The changes to the terrain.cfg that are necessary to display the photoreal shorelines are discussed in the shorelines.docx document in the package.

@ richoday: do you have an older copy of the terrain.cfg that you can use as fall-back? Do you have complex custom sceneries installed, like ORBX or Aerosoft products?

We'll correct the package and re-upload it again.

Cheers,
Mark

I originally overwrote (without backup) the terrain cfg from the chi chi zip file. Later, I copied the original terrain.cfg from my FSX install DVD and over wrote the chichi Jima file.
I started FSX and ChiChi Jima seems to work O.K. What is the worst that can happen if I just copy my original terrain.cfg from my DVD to FSX
and rename the chi chi jime terrain to terrain.old?

Will I have scenery issues with the other sceneries that I have installed? Or will I have to reinstalled them?

new chi chi Jimi

Will the new improved CHi CHi Jima have a unique name to it or something like REV 1 etc.....?
I think I just d/l the same old original one and I'm looking for that revised version.

I just downloaded Chi Chi Jima and the folder inside has a date of 5/5/2012. So this must be the revised folder. However, the terrain cfg. is still in there, as well as the watersplash bgl. in the effects folder.

I will definitely be careful and keep checking here when I install.

Looking forward to getting a chance to explore this great scenery. R/L time is my enemy, unfortunately.

The new version is not updated yet in the library, correct?
I just downloaded it and it´s the old version :salute:

Reply...

Good evening,

As far as I know, I approved the new version, deleted the old one...and I was asked by stovall to delete the terrain.cfg file, so I did.

Congrats on the new release guys! Awesome!

I'll be checking this out! Something to fly the A2A P40 in!

Roger, what Japanese fighter is that?

Bill, that is the Raiden. I can be found at Flightsim.com. Just do a search for Raiden. There are also several packages of textures for this bird. She is fun to fly at Chi-Chi Jima.

I checked the updated version which is ready to download and it seems clean to me now.

@ richoday: George is standing on the Sub, they plucked him already out of the sea :) And no, that's not Kennedy, that was in the Blacket Straights near Kolombangara / Solomons !

Cheers,
Mark

I should of said that I was just kidding about Kennedy. :icon_lol:

Whew, Mark just sent an email saying all was looking good now. I want to say one more time. Roger Wilco66 is a great partner. I encourage anyone who is trying to learn what is a very complicated endeavor to jump in there and work together. Mark taught me a multitude of things. To just let you know there are approximately 400 objects placed individually in this scenery. That doesn't count the flak and all the other effects which could easily make the count over 1000. This was indeed my largest endeavor. Thanks for everyone's patience and understanding. :guinness:

As Mark said the final update for Chi-Chi Jima here at SOH is completely clean and is the file I intended to install in the first place. I can rest easy for the rest of the day. The file over at Flightsim.com is also the one I intended to release.

Hmm, I don't have the nice shore lines. I did update the scenery.cfg with the data from the pdf file. This is what makes the shore lines, no? I may still have the old version, even though I downloaded it a second time, but maybe too soon. I'll try again later.

Finally found an appropriate seabase...

Merci beaucoup Mark and Tom,

Your work is gorgeous and your efforts appreciated... :icon29:

I've now found a seabase (Ha-Ha Shima) for my what if concoction of a Hs-123 fitted with Mitsubishi floats... :applause:

Made a flypast to compliment and thank you more appropriately.

Cheers,

Fleurdelys
