that is an awesome amout of entries..
back in the 80s when i drove in northern california and around the area...we hit nevada, oregon, socal.and az...in october of every year we went to Lovelock nevada to a small "bullring",i dont believe it was even a full 1/4 mile,,it had a huge cattle pen in the infield,it took up the whole area..was just a foot inside of the burm, which was about 18 inches high...which also made for trouble,,,turns 3/4 were absolutely flat,as were the front and back stretches, there was no wall around 3/4,but about 5 feet beyond the prepaired racing surface was a 8 foot high metal fence,i can only describe this thing as deadly, never killed anyone i know of....but we saw some awesome crashes on ...well against it,it distroyed the cars..but it never budged,in 1/2,it was banked...im not sure of the % .but it wasnt to steep..but at the top of the racing surface was a burm about 12 inches high..if you jumped that..it was a 10-15 foot drop in to a drainage canal which in october was usually at capacity and about 8 feet deep, and 10 feet wide...one guy did in fact drown one year.
my point.....every year i was there...there were cars from all over the US and canada...and a couple years we had some cars come up from mexico.....and every year we had the austrailians here in california..so they came too if they hadnt gone home yet...sometimes there were over 500 cars there....with three divisions..hobby stocks..late model stocks..and west coast modifieds/sprint cars running together, the last time i went..we got there on wednesday...started qualifying at 7 am thursday ( and it had snowed over night) and we were still running elemination mains at 3 am sunday night/monday morning...so they set the A main for tuesday at noon...yet we still raced all day monday and most of the morning tuesday....i say "we"......there were cars on track.....most of the time the average person sat watching..or tuning his or her car...but my god that was fun.......and there were no showers..no RV hookups..and one 3 holer wooden outhouse..the pit filled by saturday morning....they had to bring porta-potties out of reno, they got a nevada state trooper escort...lol...across the road from the track was an airport of sorts...was more of a crop duster set up...but my "pitsite" was at the far end of the runway....my engine over heated just idleing to the track ramp.....after that i had a push....
