Circumhorizontal Arc

This is extremely cool. Was picking my grandson up from elementary school an hour ago and saw this. its a kind of circular rainbow called a "circumhorizontal arc". formed by ice crystals in cirrus clouds. Not sure how rare but I had neither seen nor heard of this until an hour ago! You can see in the top picture there are actually two of them. I could only get a good image of the main one. 15 minutes after I shot this, it was gone. Gods work is GOOD.

those are pretty cool.the lower part of the top pic has a northern lightsish look to it.

Quite common in Australia. Either the colour you show in your screenshot or the standard ring.

Australian farmers use rings around the sun or moon as weather predictors. The closer the ring to the sun or moon the closer the rain. That one would indicate rain in 3 days .
