Classy last day at work

Just saw the story of this on TV. Sounds like he is getting a lot of support as well for his actions. As we have all had those moments at work where we wanted to make the dramatic exit. I wounder if he paid for the beer on his departure?

I doubt it. And if for no other reason, they can fire him for stealing from the company with that many witnesses. I doubt even a union can protect him from that, though I doubt Jet Blue is union.
 
Let's see, he is reportedly 38 years old, yet he supposedly said:

"...it’s been a good 28 years,”

So, he was only 10 when he started his career as a flight attendant? :toilet:
 
That's hands down the greatest way of quitting a job I've ever heard of, and I'm not surprised he's become sort of a folk hero.

If they decide to go to trial, the jury selection process would be a nightmare, since pretty much anyone who has ever dealt with customers or worked with an idiot boss (basically everyone with a job) has probably dreamed of quitting a job that spectacularly.

Too bad the judge likely wouldn't allow a verdict of "guilty, but awesome".
 
"Awsome" ? I don't think so. More like juvenile and self-centered and really unprofessional. Another of the many "it's all about me" attention whores that seem to be popping up frequently. Any company that hires this crank deserves whatever he brings them.

Johnny Paycheck would have been proud of him.

I hope he has some other skill. He would be working for any airline ever again. I agree with Teasea. You don't quit like that. I don't care how unruly the paxs are. They are no worse that the Chit they put up with every time they get close to an airport.
 
When you're in a customer-service position you have to have a tolerance for rude behavior. Ask any bartender, or anybody in retail. If the flight attendant was actually hit in the head by the passenger during the altercation, that could be considered assault. He should have kept his cool and handled it in accordance with airline policy instead of doing what he did. The statement by JetBlue that no ground personnel were in danger during the incident may help him with the reckless endangerment he's been charged with.
 
Like I posted over at the Cantina, flight attendants put with a lot of crap from people for things that they had nothing to with, so good for him for standing up. Now if his action endangered the pax and crew of the flight, then his actions were reckless and he should be punished. He faces up to 7 yrs in prison.

I deal with stupid people all day long but unfortunately I can't tell them to "f- off" and run away...well I can tell them to "f -off", but running away ain't an option.

I'm sure that the TSA/FAA/HS have rules about passengers NOT allowed to get up out of there seats while the plane is moving. I think I would have tazed the passenger @$$ and said he/she was terrorist.

I can't see how his actions could endangered the passengers and crew of the flight. IF the emergency exit and chute are dangerous to them, I think they need to rethink what the point of a emergency exit is for.

Did not endanger passengers with the slide, but cost the airline $25 k to repack it and all the passengers were delayed not to mention that the ground crew could have been hit by the chute. At some point, you have to grow up. I have dealt with the public and know it can be frustrating, but what he did was just juvenile.
 
I'm sorry, but I'm under the impression that ... if you're a passenger on an aircraft, ship, or whatever, that the crew appointed to care for those passengers have exclusive authority over those passengers as long as they are on the corporate vessel of choice.

The passenger, (I'm under the understanding was a female ... ) who blatantly refused to follow this guy's direction is at fault here. If the passenger would have followed the directive then all would have been well.

I say he and the airline should sue the passenger in this case for not following standard procedure in a corporate owned vehicle.
