Close down problems "today"

You would think that there has been enough time to fix the issue by now.

late to the party
Updated my sim today after not having used it for a couple of weeks. Having the same issue now.

The only way to close MSFS 2020 is through the Task Manager. Right-click the Task Bar and open Task Manager, hightlight MSFS 2020 and click End Task.

Even after using the taskbar to close it, I've found that there's still something active somewhere. I was making an update to a plane a couple of weeks ago, and the only way for the change to register was to restart my PC.

Advised (by Microsoft) to uninstall and reinstall both the 'Gaming Services' and 'XBox' apps - and it worked, for precisely one session! Now back to task manager each time.

Tom, I noticed that in that same situation if I go back to the Task Manager and scroll through the active programs there is a "Flight Simulator", "XBox" and "Gaming Services" still running as well and I don't think they show if the Sim closes normally.

Gaming services do show, even for us Steam users. I think it's the X-Box service.

Cheers,

I'll have to check that next time I need to make tweaks. I have a couple of SimMarket updates waiting to be downloaded, and one of those is a plane that has baked registrations. I've repainted one of the liveries with my normal "N721TC" and then I add an extra entry into the cfg file instead of trying to package it as an addon.

same here - there have been updates to the sim but so far this is an ongoing problem for no good reason...

Word is it has been resolved in the upcoming SU16 for MSFS 2020.
