Close encounter with an Osprey.

PomBee

Easily confused.
Hi Guys,

Just had to post this. I was working outside today, doing a bit of fencing work, when I heard the sound of an aircraft approaching (a VERY rare thing in my neck of the woods). It sounded a little unusual, so I looked up at it. It was a Bell Boeing V22 Osprey! I didn't even know that the Canadian Forces even used them, or maybe it was a US aircraft on a visit. It's the first time that I've ever seen one "in the flesh", so to speak, so I was dead chuffed. Just goes to show how easily pleased I am, eh?

Cheers,

Osprey Watch II

I had the same experience last year. It has a very unusual sound for a propeller AC. Nothing like the piston engines in WWll AC. The Marines fly them out of Cherry Point, N.C. ( I think ), down along the coast so I see them frequently when I get to the beach.

Indeed, MCAS Cherry Point. We are just a few miles down the road, and I see V-22s all the time, as well as AV-8s, F/A-18s, and E/A-6s. With the occasional F-15 from Seymour-Johnson thrown in.
