If the FAA sees this video and they have the N numbers then someone might be getting an unpleasant visit.......

If that would have been me, nobody would ever have seen that video. If you want to be stupid by yourself, fine, but not with other people lives.

Actually, look at about the 2:10 to 2:13 time frame and step slowly thru it.
first 2 1/2 numbers are clearly visible. With about 45 minutes of playing with the FAA registration database I found less than 10 "possible" combinations (no, im not going to post them)

Now, it's easy enough for the FAA to cross-reference that with AP repair reports over the last few months or years and/or damage reports and/or C of A renewals. As well, ATC would be asked about records of a Bonanza and an L-39 operating together.

I'm sure someone out there would pass or has passed the link on to the FAA (just like people watching sports on TV write in to complain about 'infractions' they see).

Of course, it's not beyond someone who'd post a video to just not fix the damage, or get a shadetree mechanic to do it to avoid the repercussions ... makes you feel good, doesn't it?

After the shock ( and nervous laughter) wore off, I wonder how the pax felt?

I wonder what happened to the L39 (did it too fly into IMC conditions or climb above?)and was it still sitting on the Bonanza's left wing when the Bonanza PIC swerved left to avoid the terrain?
 
That my friends is getting a second chance....and how stupid and irresponsible some jerks called humans can be.....
 
Anyone, who has been working with general aviation, knows how difficult it is some times to make a decision, either to continue or to abort a flight.

Often there is quite a lot of money and perhaps important meetings or other stuff involved, and especially if you are not able to convert it to an IFR flight, it really can give you grey hairs:bump:

In this case however, I think they clearly went over the line. It is NOT a good idea to continue into mountanious or hilly areas under imc conditions.

The US Navy has this aviation safety magazine called “Approach”. The idea there is that you tell your harrowing tales of doing stupid things, in the hope that I might learn from your experience without having to do the same stupid thing myself first. There are a lot of amazing stories there. One in particular I remember because the story seemed to match so well the video in this thread. The difference was that all four souls on the plane were very experienced naval aviators, suffering from “get-there-itis”, the affliction that causes pilots to do dumb things because they don’t want to divert or not go in the first place. Interesting video.
 
PRB, you is right. As that old avation saying goes "Learn from the mistakes of others, you wont live long enough to learn from your own"
