Coastal Command Flares

That's a shame, I've just read an account of Ju88A-4's fighting a Sunderland, and thinking that the flying boat was so big, they tried to drop bombs on it, but missed!

Buoy Flare has been sent to testing and evaluation. Lets see how the test team likes it. Beau if you want a copy of it it is on our Groundhog internal FTP or drop me your email and I will get it to you.

Hi, O-1,

Sorry, I haven't had chance to post chunks of the memoir yet - will do so in a few days if the details would be helpful. Basically in May/June 1944 sub-hunting Sunderlands *were* using white aerial drop flares and also buoy flares but the memoir doesn't mention or suggest the colour of the buoy flares, I'm afraid.

Do you have any reference to a white color on buoy flares that would help a lot. There already existed a quantity of red, green and yellow buoy flares at the time they began using them.

Remco, thanks for your help. Currently the buoy flare is yelow/white in color that we tested but we will also be doing a red version. the sodium saltwater flares will come in red, green and blue as documented in my research. We will also have daytime water dye markers with tinted foam.

Yep, they work real well.....pretty amazing stuff and the immersion level just keeps getting better and better
