Did a search of the site and did not see any news regarding the new Combat flight simulator Combat Pilot. At the moment for Patreon Ace supporters, $25.00 USD monthly, the Pre-Alpha build is available on Steam.

This is a special tier for our most passionate supporters who rule the virtual skies with ruthlessness and expert ability!

Note: VR support will not be included in the initial launch of the pre-Alpha. Proper VR support needs to be done right and we don't want to release VR support if it's not a good experience, heck even monitor users might have some issues early on. We are wholeheartedly committed to VR support, but much engine optimization still needs to happen before that time comes. The Ace tier is for those who really want to jump in early and don't mind putting up with alpha period development issues.

Developer Diary 13 discuss some Flight Model work that has been ongoing from the start of development.
Dear Pilots,

In this developer diary, we’re going to talk about one of Combat Pilot’s greatest weapons, which we are preparing for deployment.

Over the last two years, we have been evolving our flight models and reviewing the state-of -the-art in flight simulation tools. We were unable to find a flight engine technology which ticks all the boxes: Mathematically efficient, multi-threaded, optimized and suitable for extensive multiplayer usage, with a flexible tick rate mated to the game clock, and capable of handling the complexity of WWII aircraft simulations.

Throughout the development of both Combat Pilot: Experimental Prototype and now Carrier Qualification, we chose a very powerful piece of open-source technology that was able to handle increasingly complex flight models. Essentially, this was a math calculator attached to the game. But we knew we wanted and needed more; we wanted to transform it to make Combat Pilot a future-proof simulator which stands the test of time. Unfortunately, it is not easy to transform the core architecture of any existing software, so sometimes hard decisions need to be made. Consequently, we decided to make a bold move and develop our own physics engine. We have christened it the Entropy.Aero Flight Model Engine, or simply EntropyFM.

At this point it’s important to mention that the Patreon pre-alpha build, available to all our Ace Tier subscribers, does NOT contain EntropyFM, but the legacy physics engine. The development of EntropyFM is still maturing and is not ready to seamlessly replace the existing system yet. However, we are already months into this work and so far, it has gone well.
