• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Trawlers

Screen shots aren't showing right now, but it'll be nice to have an armed trawler sailing about the estuaries of CFS 2. I guess during the dark days of 42, armed trawlers even ventured out to the high seas for convoy escort.

Thank you for your interest fellows.

Yes SdC, in the dark days of 40-42 the Royal Navy used over 500 trawlers, many "pressed into service" from private owners for anti sub, escort and minesweeping. The shortage of RN escort vessels, creating the destroyers for bases deal between GB and the USA, made these vessels ocean escort participants until late 1943 when sufficient modern escorts became abundant for the allies. Their design made them weatherly, allowing them to stay at sea when destroyers could not. The Kriegsmarine used over 200 for similar purposes. Heres a fine link:

I hope to provide a few more smaller vessels to enhance CFS2 European ports, and some fishing versions for near shore/ port enhancement.:running:
