Coming soon, FSx Seaking

the early BETA with NO VC or Sounds is out at ukmil for CLUB MEMBERS to test. I am working on the VC as we speak, with Emmisive gauging

This looks very good. :ernae:
I just wish the helo will not require a 2D panel to be operated. We have veeeery few helicopters with interactive virtual cockpits, unfortunately...
(PS: I am NOT asking for 3d switches of course)

Also, concerning the latest external shots that you posted right above, do you plan including the same kind of window reflections that Piglet puts on his planes for example ? I know this is still a beta, but the windows don't look so good on those shots ;)

remember, that quote was EARLY beta, it has come a long way since, with interactive VC:applause:

WooHoo! Landing on frigates here we come.... now we just need dipping sonar. :costumes:

Oh nice to see, for FSX at last.

What models are you doing please, are you going as far back as my namesake the Mk1 for the RN ??............well I had to ask. I really miss all my squadron in FSX.

If you'd like a rotor texture done for this, let me know. Looking great! :ernae:

Minor point, the Junglie cabs and I think the Baggers don't have the yellow blade that's normally restricted to the SAR cabs to make them more conspicuous from above, it works just don't ask me how.

we are getting close to release, but as always, we have no FDE specialist on the team at UKMIL, and this makes completing our models take longer. at present, i am tinkering with the FDE's but i just cannot get this thing to land without bouncing.

are there any Helo FDE gurus around that would like to have a crack at this?:isadizzy:

Yes I know, I'm just trying to avoid dissapointments like the Hovercontrol Bell 412, which can be operated only from the 2D panel :/ That's why I was asking what were your plans for this copter, knowing perfectly that nothing's ready yet :)

ok, full model now released as a club download at UKMIL. Seaking sounds added with thanks to Christoffer Petersen of TSS.

it will be ob general freeware release sometime in the new year.

It's nice for Christoffer to give you his sounds (and also nice because I don't have to buy 'em now...) :mixedsmi:

Great,

Could you post more shots of the finished VC please??

Thanks

Looking forward to taking this one for a flight and to have a good look at her, I see my old 55 is one of the models be it a later version so good to see.

Can't really tell from the pics but something about those engine nacelles doesn't look quite right........I could be wrong though.

Roll on the new year.

I dont want anyone to take this the wrong way, its just ment to be helpfull observation after spending two years building my own. The Seaking is a complex shape to build, lots of compound curves and difficult shapes to blend in. Looking at the screen shots theres a couple of areas that could be looked at.

Windscreen, this looks flat across all three panels, thats not quite correct, only the middle one is flat, the two outer ones are curved at their outer edges.

Engines, the sides look straight up, they should be tapered inwards at the top a little.

Sponsons, the rear end and belly of these is wrong, the rear end should taper to a wasp like tail, not a flat plate and the belly is not flat but like a shallow boat hull with a v shaped crease in the middle.

There are other areas that could be dressed up but those three areas will enhance the shape significantly with simple reshaping.

I've attached a render of my old one on a mirror base, hopefully to show what I'm talking about, a link here to a bigger image http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mickoo/Images_Planes/Seaking Mk-3.jpg As I said, this isnt ment to be a "my Seaking is better than yours post", just modellers advice from one Seaking builder to another, its a very hard shape to accomplish and all credit should be given to the author for efforts so far.

Kindest

Michael

no offence taken michael, yours was a PAYWARE model for AS, and as such had to be right. my model has taken 6 weeks, and is freeware, and will be released as best i can for the freeware market, under the guise, if you dont like it, dont use it, and go and buy the AS one! very simple. i dont spend 2 years on my models, as i get very bored very easy, i like to move on to the next. i have released some 7 models this year alone, all freeware, and have another 5 on the go.

i do alter small areas when i get some advice, but large scale amendments at the late stage are too time consuming to undertake. i am not asking anyone to pay for this, so you get it as is
