Coming soon : LONG TIENG - AIR AMERICA

Wonderful work, Xavier, fantastique!

LS20a was without doubt the coolest airfield in an uncool war...

Can I inspire you to Nakhon Phanom now, the second coolest airfield? :icon_lol:

Hello Vora,

We are looking for airfields we haven't done yet. Jacques is working on Cambodia airfields (he was in Cambodia between 1973 and 1975).

But next photoreal airfield is ....

Cam Ranh Bay, a promise to a veteran wich support us since the start of my FSX Vietnam war pack.

Nakhom Phanom and Korat are written on a list, near my computer.

And a few others...

Best,

Xavier

Wow! Great stuff there :applause:

Cam Rahn Bay was my entry and exit point in 1967 and 1968. No fond memories there. 125 degrees F when landing in '67 (and 2 weeks of cleaning latrines aand showers), and very windy on my way home. Yikes! to a crosswind landing in a C-123 w/Jato, knuckles clenched white to a crabbing landing.

Scary....Excuse me sir, could you tell me where I can download your AT-11 Kansan, I use to see formations of these of the Guatemalan Air Force (FAG!!!.."Fuerza Aerea Guatemalteca") back around 1955 together with P-26s!!!! (The last one given to the Washington Air Museum around 1963 or so)...Thank you

Orbx? Long Tieng is in Laos, thousands of miles away from the next Orbx scenery.

The only addons I know of that cover this area are FScene4x Asia (textures) and FSGlobalX (mesh). I can imagine there could be problems with the FSGlobalX mesh.

Hello,

I use many ORBX sceneries ( and OZX and Anthony "Ants" sceneries - Thanks to them ) without troubles BUT don't forget to activate FSX default sceneries in FTX Central.

Outstanding! :applause: I'll be looking forward to this next airfield. Also looking forward to Cam Ranh Bay. That was my departure point when I went home in '67. I would really like to recreate that flight: Cam Ranh to Clark AFB, Clark to Hickam in Hawaii, then a commercial flight to San Francisco... :salute:

has anyone used the Gia Nghia scenery with any payware add on mesh. I tried the freeware mesh available on the forums and had some problems with the taxiways climbing at high angle and the airplane unable to taxi on them. I went back to the default and no longer had a problem. The scenery does not us a flatten so is sensitive the the underlying mesh I am guessing.

Hello Sieggie,

I've build Gia Nghia to match FSX default meshes and World Wide SRTM West Asia Meshes by Taburet and Ferranti (Freeware available at Flightsim), Gia Nghia was a peculiar airfield with a small ravine beetween the runway and parking, I 've done this ravine ,

You must set meshe complexity to 100
and mesh resolution to 5 m ( I apologize, i've forget to add these informations to the documentation)

Ah, a ravine. That explains hitting a wall while taxiing out using the West Asia scenery. I will try again with the new settings.

It is a great strip. Have even managed to land and leave with the C130 a couple of times, although the buildings sticking out into the runway make it tricky with a large wingspan :)

Thanks,

Dave

That Fixed it! Nether the default or the West Asia mesh, bumps on traverse of the taxiway, to the runway or back.

Thanks and looking forward to the LS20A strip.

Dave

This is a shot from the air of the Long Tieng Base on my system. I'm using payware terrain mesh (don't ask me what that is though, once I install it, it's erased from my memory, lol) exclusively. I have problems with a few of the LZ's, but for the most part everything I've downloaded thus far has worked pretty well despite not using default mesh.
