A few years back in an issue of "KITPLANES" magazine there was a chap who took a Stolp Starduster Too airframe and decided to turn it into a retro-flavoured beauty by rounding out the Stolp's tail feathers, adding outrigger landing gear very similar to the Lakes', and employing a Kinner R5 radial for motive power and rounding out the cowling around the engine room and fairing it smoothly into the prop spinner just as your Lakes has. He topped it off with a period deep cream and burgundy paint scheme which made it a very striking airplane indeed.

Your Lakes immediately brought that to mind, and it's just as much a beauty in its own right.

Oh, here's an idea for a vintage fun toy; the diminutive Lincoln Sport:

I believe this is the highly modified Stolp Starduster Too I was referring to in my last post. The last name of the owner, Tom Macario, sounds familiar, and the date of the photo, 1994, seems to jibe with my memory of the KITPLANE magazine article. The pic is a screenshot of a PDF copy of the July 1994 issue of the Starduster Owners, Builders, Pilots, and Enthusiasts Club magazine. Although the image quality is poor, obviously, you can still make out the rounded tail empennage, the outrigger landing gear, and the smooth fairing around the Kinner engine and the wooden prop with its integral streamlined spinner. Sadly, no colour shots appear to be available...
