I am sure we have many Chicago Blackhawks fans here at SOH.

Congratulations to each of you. Your team just hoisted the Cup!

Was a great series, philly had me worried more that a few times. Congrads to the Hawks, I hope I live long enough to see the Cubs bring the championship home, thats all I havent seen yet.

Tho IHMO Niemi shoulda been the MVP.

.....Very exciting time for the Blackhawks fans. Last time Chicago won the Stanley Cup was back in 1961. Now,...if the Cubs could win a pennant,...but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Congrats Blackhawks! :ernae:

I was at one of the playoff games when the Carolina 'Canes won several years back. Love ice hockey live, hate it on TV, can't fully see and feel the game.

As for the Cubbies....................................................

Maybe if they weren't in the same league with the Cardinals. :d

Hey Caz,
Thanks for posting the YouTube of Steve Goodman singing his lament about the clueless Cubbies. Steve was a local folk singer of some renown,...however,...he never saw a pennant or championship either. He died in 1984. Like most Cub fans,...they go to their reward without sampling the taste of victory. Last time the North Siders won a pennant was in 1945,....and a World Series Championship in 1908. As ol' Jack Brickhouse (Chicago sports announcer) once deftly stated,..."Hey,...anybody can have a bad century!"
Trouble with the Cubs they have this nation wide following. And maybe world wide too.
To me,...there's nothing 'lovable' about the hapless Cubs. If you can't win and produce,...fans should stop going to the ball park or the team should pull up stakes and leave town. That will NEVER happen though. Why? Cuz they're lovable.
It's like these Cub fans would think it's cool to have a full time tooth ache so it'll remind them of their Cubs. Maybe it's right to love a loser,...I don't know.

I agree MK. Lets hope it's not another 50yrs to choose again! :jump:

great pic, but did you notice he was one of the last on the team to handle the cup ? Not that the rest of the team didn't deserve it but Niemi did a HERCULEAN job as goalie during the playoffs and should've been one of the fist to kiss the cup.

congrats to the 'hawks! Aint followed hockey for 40 years, but they remain a great franchise with great fans.

as for the cubs, well no matter what happens. they will always have Wrigley field, which may be the greatest Park left in the National League. : -)

Everybody loves a loser Brad, because we all are as a rule.

I have about every album Steve Goodman ever made, same for John Prine, his best buddy and collaborator on many songs.

Steve died way before his time, he was missed by so many, a lovable little guy too. "City of New Orleans" is the best dang train song ever written.

Alan Jackson of C&W fame made good with Steve's "How much Tequila Did I Drink last Night?". David Alan Coe made a C&W Clasic with Steve's "You never Even call me By My Name". Steve wrote so many songs that other people made hits off of.

Yep - How 'bout those 'Hawks! :jump::jump::jump:

Years ago, Chicago Blackhawk Erik Nesterennko & his son lived in our building, it is because of him that I got interested in the sport of ice hockey & I also ended up playing it for quite a number of years...(still have some of my equipment too) :d

You mean ... cup ... as in Stanley cup?

Oh no. That means that ... there are a mess of upset Penguins and Canadians fans ... Of course Sabre fans don't count.
