Convair

No. Because you've asked.

I know I'm mean. *Snicker*

Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!

Thank you!

The tank interferes with the pax door 'though and needs some more shaping. That's basically all that's left to be done. Plus writing idiotproof Readmes, making awful preview pictures and all that other annoying stuff.

Real nice Bjoern but it doesn't look like the stubby nose version I had in mind...:wavey:

It also doesn't look like the encouraging post I've had in mind.

Five thousand Dollars and you'll get your stubby nose version. At that price, I'd even throw in a new fuselage mesh.

The Convair is up in the download section!

Thanks, Bjoern. This is really nice.

Brings back memories for me. Early 80's I was flying a King Air out of Fort Smith, AR, and we often flew from there to Dallas, usually KDFW. Frontier did the same run in Convairs and usually flew similar times and altitudes to what we did, 17K to FL200 or so. We never varied, but when thunderstorms were around, they'd fly the route at 5000--always seemed weird to us. Couple of years later during a simulator session, the instructor happened to be a former Frontier pilot and I asked him why. He said they really wanted to be up higher with us, but their radars were so bad that they couldn't paint any weather, so they figured they were safer just bumbling along down low. Sometimes it was better being a corporate pilot. :icon_eek:

Thanks again for bringing this one to us.

cheers,
steve :wavey:

Well, in that regard...the radar gauge in the virtual 580's cockpit is just a generic stand-in and just as useful as the real one then. :icon_lol:

Btw:

Check Avsim, Flightsim or the library here. Happy Frontier runs!

Additional Liveries

I enjoy this plane although I had to make thumbnail for the Sierra Pacific.
Interested to know if any of the Cal Classic/Classic Propliners 580's will
work with the basic addon? If not then what do you recommend as a source
for additional liveries besides making my own. Interested in a US Navy version.
I use to fly in them from NAS Alameda to NAS Miramar back in the 60's.

I've included a thumbnail vor the Sierra Pacific paint...

Old repaints still work, but I don't know of any USN repaints for the 580.

Repaints for the 440 might probably work, as long as you just copy over the fuselage textures. Absolutely no guarantees though.

Very, VERY nice, Bjoern!

As for the Wiper switch.....go to Copilot view...look up. You have to turn switch to get it to work.

Well Markus Hellwig's RCAF Paint works

Would be interested in that, myself. Never flew in a USN Convair. Closest thing to it that I was on was a C-118.
