Converting .3ds to Gmax

Hi,
I don't know if this is of any use to anyone, but I encountered an interesting document in this location:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ff798293.aspx

Converting 3DSMax models to GMax for use with FSX.doc

The document is a very thorough step by step guide. It is for FSX but I thought that it may also be of help for Gmax users with a CFS3 gamepak? and given it is sourced from the Microsoft Library I figure it is reasonably cosher and helpful for people with .3ds models who want to get then into Gmax.

That's a much-respected method in some quarters, some of our old-time modelers used it extensively to build in 3ds Max for CFS3. I can think of a couple of models straight away that came that route.

The usual problem is getting complex animated hierarchies to export properly, but you use Max for its modelling, texture mapping and texture baking tools tools: Gmax is more than capable in the animation department.

If anyone is using the BFF script for Max9 or later, make sure you're using the latest one (as the MS tutorial will warn you): helpfully both the bugged version and the corrected one give the same version number when they're running... :banghead:

hehehehehehehe

yep one handy little tool I have all 3 versions and it works great just don't forget to make sure it is right before you do it cause you will end up with a pile of:pop4: if not hehehehehehehehehehe.
