• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

convertMDL Tool - convertMDL

SDK: The MDL Converter Tool 21 May 2001 What is the MDL Converter? The MDL Converter tool does three things: It converts the MDL header of pre-CFS2 aircraft models to the new CFS2 format. It fixes the payloads bug so you can use payloads on imported planes. It optimizes the aircraft model to use the new CFS2 graphics format, resulting in higher frame rates. 131K

For those that don't remember this is an old tool from MS that fixes payloads for pre-CFS2 aircraft so they can use external weapons like bombs.

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to ask you guys about this but may I ask you is there any tools to convert from aircraft (.mdl) to ground object (.bgl)?

I use Arno Gerretsen's Model Converter X to convert the mdl file to a 3ds file which I then import into Gmax where I use the FS2002 Gamepack to convert it to a bgl via a sca file with the help of Allen's tutorial and program for making objects.

If you want a destructible ground object you will have to do some editing in Gmax, depending how much damage you wish to display. The separate damaged model is similarly converted and combined with the intact model using Allen's program.

Have fun!
