Hello Folks,
I did a little bit of testing last night: I pulled the panel backgrounds and instrument clusters from CFS2 to CFS1 to see if I could use them for one of my Corsairs. The problem that I am trying to fix is that the Corsair has one monster huge fuel tank just ahead of the cockpit. There is no stock gauge that is capable of indicating that much fuel (about 250 gallons or so). Turns out the CFS2 Corsair gauge won't work for CFS1.... Closest stock gauge is the P-47, but that plane uses a real reserve tank.
Just for grins, I looked around at what others had done for Corsairs. I found that one of the other panels in use for a couple Corsairs LOOKS more or less the correct shape, but actually uses Spitfire gauges which causes the following problems:
1. Indicate even less fuel
2. The manifold pressure is given in pounds boost which is British not American practice
3. The fuel selector shows a reserve tank which isn't installed in Corsairs.
The Corsair used a "Standpipe Reserve" which meant that the main tank only draws fuel down to a certain point. If the "Reserve" is selected, ALL fuel is used.
