Corsair paints

as you may have noticed, I've started slapping paint on the A2A/AF Corsair.
So far, I've uploaded these two:

I know it is not to your own doing, as it is present within the original textures released with the product, but have you looked into finding out where the prop hub textures are? It would definitely look much better if they were natural metal, like the originals. I had been planning on trying to correct this with the supplied schemes, but have never gotten around to taking a closer look at them.<o:p></o:p>

Also, I know a few days ago you asked about the blue on the #115 scheme. From my experience, currently the blue is too light, too saturated, and not glossy enough. If you take a look at the following picture, the featured Corsair (actually the same one you have depicted) is painted in what is highly considered the exact finish - both in color and in the level of glossiness. You can also see the difference in color between the blue of the aircraft and the blue of the insignias. It also gives a good reference for the size of the various markings.<o:p></o:p>

A better blue I think?
I also found the prop, so I can make that bare metal. Do we want new textures for the already uploaded ones as well?
The roundels are driving me nuts, these are the ones that came with the paintkit, but the ones on the fuselage are cut over two texture files, and there is some distortion going on there...aaargh.

as for requests, thank you, we'll see how far I get...

Your glossy sea blue still looks matte. The glossy sea blue scheme really was glossy, both in WW II and on modern restorations.
 
I don't know, the RN's examples tended to get pretty heavily used compared to the USN's aircraft. I've read a couple of books by RN pilots who mention seeing US aircraft getting shipped back to the states for overhaul etc. that were in better condition than any of the aircraft on their squadrons, they would have 'borrowed' them but they would have stuck out a bit on deck!
The FAA museum have a book on the restoration of their Corsair which is probably the only one with its original paint and she doesn't look that glossy, mind you not a lot does after 60 years!

it seems the model is not too impressed with my attempts at adjusting the alpha channel, it may be that a really shiny finish is not going to happen. Look at the wheel struts, not very shiny either.
Look at the prop hub, the alpha is nearly black for that part, so it should be really shiny...Look at the wheel struts, not very shiny either. So I think the model does not support alpha-shine...I'll toy a bit more with the spec file, maybe that helps...

Super repaint Jan but to get full shiny gloss you'd need the model to be reflective I think.
