CPU question (oh boy)

Yea, I'm going to call it a day as I was lucky to get 20 fps with the old cpu and now I'm getting high 30s and low 40s and I cranked things up from where I was before. I also wanted to run the G2 at Pimax Crystal resolutions to see how it will perform when the Pimax comes in.

If things get tough, I still haven't adjusted the cpu at all in the bios. I could turn on PBO still and lower the voltage but am trying to keep it stock for safety's sake.

Thanks everyone,
LouP

I wanted to follow-up in case anyone was interested. I went from having my doubts about my purchase to absolutely happy with it. Since I learned more about these x3d chips, I decided to go into the bios and under volt it. Now it's running over 5ghz at temps ranging from low to mid 50s under load. My fps are locked at 50% of the refresh rate of my headset which is odd because I'm getting mid to high 30s (my headset is supposed to be running at 60hz). If history shows anything, I should be able to purchase any future AMD CPUs if I want and just swap them from the current AM5 motherboard. I would definitely recommend these if you were contemplating one. :)

Thanks all,
LouP

So after a lot of consideration and talking with the reps at Micro Center, I decided to go with the AMD Ryzen 7800x3d. Hope it was the right choice!
Lou, I have that same chip with the RTX 3080. I use the Meta Quest 3 with it and have had zero problems, other than an occasional shudder. I am considering upgrading me GPU, but since the 3080 is working so well, I am in no rush.
