• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Create a .mos file

I go to Mosaic Editor's file and the answer is :"An initialization error has occurred. Please ensure you have Managed DirectX 9 or greater installed."
But I have DX9 !!!
I shall like creating this file myself but if I can't, of course your proposition is welcome.

...Hey mate, -the key word here (I believe) is 'managed' Dir X which is sumpin else...
-hope this helps

Here's a link to M$oft's site for the download and install. You do need the Managed Directx to do the .mos files.

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=15067

I managed to install it without hurting myself, but whatever else you do, create a system restore point if you're in XP or whatever the equivalent is in Vista or Windows 7. It is impossible otherwise to undo anything the installer might muck up.

Hope this helps.

MDX doesn't install from the DirectX download unless you manually find and install it from the DirectX SDK.

A quick search for MDXREDIST instead will find the required download, eg http://download11.com/get/mdxredist.msi

You must also have .NET framework installed - any version will do, get it from Microsoft.

Good catch! I misread the download which includes the UPDATE only.
Glad you posted before others went off on a goose chase.
