'Creativity Crisis'...?

If you want proof that creativity is vanishing in America, look no further than Hollywood. How many truely original movies have come out in the last 10 years? Movies that weren't based on the comic books we read as kids 30 years ago, movies that weren't remakes of the movies we blown away by 30 years ago. How many television shows are there that are original and not "reality"? The answer to all of these is very very few.

Shutter Island
Inception
Beneath Hill 60
Defience
Invictus
Kokoda
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas
Bronson
The escapist
Amelia
6th Sense (not sure about that one, good movie anyway :) )
Kung Fu Panda!

creativity is still there in heaps, you just have to look away from the money stream and big organizations :)

Hollywood is preparing to remake The Wizard of Oz and just released a remake of True Grit. I'd say they really don't have new ideas, they just remake classic movies to satisfy the needs of a younger generation.

If you read the entire article, you know that the tests of American children showed a rise until 1990. Now what very important medium started to make its way into the American mainstream around 1990? Computers and a very infant Internet.

People don't even read books anymore, how can one expect creativity from a society that expects instant information and pleasure rather than investigative and deductive thinking. I blame this very machine I am typing this on more than movies, TV, or any other medium for the fall in creativity among our people.

Nike says "Do it". I am a little more wordy, "Get out there and do something people, get off you ass!"

I wonder when they are going to do remakes of all 27 ROCKY movies!?!?!?! I'd love to see a movie about the WAC's. That would be fun, exciting, and would gather a good audience. Maybe I need to head out to Hollywood!
