Great work! As you certainly already know, French Navy had also 2 Class Independance carriers: La Fayette (ex USS Langley) and Bois-Belleau (ex Belleau Wood of course).
So as a French aeronavale lover, I'm very happy to have your USS Cabot :bump:
I have to fly and sail a little more but as a first feedback I would recommand you to add a specular map to your filght deck material. Thanks to Javier's works I realised that such map gives much more realism. When light shine changes according to the material type or weathering variations , it gives a nice touch of realism...
In your case, it would be to take in account the different specular properties of the wooden deck, painted lines, elevator structure, etc...

If you're agree I would like to try a "La Fayette" repaint and, of course feel free to ask me any question about my comment.

Some of that is down to the screenie's perspective.

Cabot was originally laid down as the Cleveland class light cruiser, Wilmington (CL-79),
she was one of nine ships reordered as Independence-class light carriers,
and converted while building.

Their bridges were only 3 decks high.
I guess as their offset from c/l
couldn't afford the heeling moment
for such a narrow hull form.

Here are a couple of views of the relationship among aircraft and island. A real one and the facsimile in the the naval aviation museum. Don´t forget perspective and remember it was a light carrier, mounted on a light cruiser.

And here is the Cabot converted in Spanish Armada R01 Dedalo, with a new and higher island. It was the first carrier to use Harriers.

Here's another photo to show the small size of the island on the CVL class carrier. From the look of things, this picture was taken during a "crossing the line" ceremony.

As a kid I visited the Dedalo many times and I even got to see the spot where a Kamikaze hit her in WWII. It's a shame that she ended up scrapped :( Please feel free to ask me anything if you decide to add some specular maps for the deck. As Sylvain said, it gives a lot of realism.

Very nice job indeed on the Island, especially the mast work. Yes indeed a small structure! A pretty desperate addition to the fast carriers as the crusier hulls were pretty fine of form and made bad rollers with all of the topweight. Desperate times!
