Damaged Aircraft

Fellows I am going to need some damaged aircraft to use as infrastructure for my Cactus missions. Here is a list of the aircraft US AC F4F, SBD, TBF, C47, P39, B17, PBY and B25. IJN AC Zero, Val, Kate, Betty, Pete, Mavis, Ruff, and Emily. The F4F, TBF, SBD, and C47 need to be shown with out engines as well so it will look like they are having an engine change. The reason for the engine change out was because of damage or a complete overhall. The SBDs engine life was about 75 flying hours and the F4F was around 25 flying hours. If you can`t do any can you help me do some. I will supply all the pictures I can find on the net . Most if not all will be nothing but textures but some will need to be on there back leaning on one wing or the other under total repair or just junked AC. Most are stock CFS2 AC with some damage bitmaps in the texture folder that can be used. I will be thankful for any help I can get.
 
You just want static BGL models correct. I could help with the models but someone else would have to texture them. I'll try to convert one of the stock models and see what we can remove.
 
You can set the stock aircraft at 100% damage and the game will show them as already destoryed.
 
If used as a GSL it reverts back when the mission starts. I've tried that with my WWI missions.

I did convert one to a 3ds model. Only issue I'm having is with the animations. The gear is up on the wildcat. It will take a bit for me to sort out.

I'll try to do a static model being repaired.

I'm never going to finish my WWI stuff. To many interests. LOL

So I converted the stock f4f4_wildcat into a 3ds model. no problem went smooth. So I thought. When I went to import the 3ds model into GMax I got an error. Invaled format. It imported into modelconvertX just fine. but I'm not able to export a working model for gmax.

Anyone able to get a working model that I can work with. The easy method isn't working.

I can get the aircraft on the ground by changing the cg. in the ac config. file. One problem I have not been able to figure out yet is how to get the damaged ac to lean on its left or right wing. Here are a few pictures I found of damaged ac. Most were at Guadalcanal.

If i could get a model to work with then that would be easy. as it is these models are proving stubborn. Someone with more skill will have to do the conversion to a useable model.

Yeah those are great but they are still MDLs. I want to make them into scenery BGLs. Something that can be placed in MB as a GSL or other object. Also not cause us to run the risk of hitting the 100 aircraft limit.

Don't throw in the towel just yet. I'm still working on it. Where I'm having trouble getting them imported I'm going to see if Allen can do that portion. Then I'll start banging them in to bits. I'll try to use the stock textures so repainting will be simple.

Well thats the plan. Lets see how it goes.

I think Allen gives the solution , it was mentioned before.
But the error message that u mention BH is because u need to transform the 3ds source to 3ds mesh, to do that
u'll need 3D exploration tool (its free) .
But it will be easy also, if u use dxt bitmap creating alpha chanels for the broken parts.
Now if u are looking for some logic breaking models, i sugest to use the stock models placed on the ground, then straffe them!

I do have the 3d exploration. Thank you. I'll give it a try. I've been talking with Allen and he said I have to remove the LODs. So I'll keep plugging at it.
 
I'm not sure if this is of any use - Guy Boullenger created a damaged Liberator in his Milne Bay campaign by altering the aircraft.cfg and .air files.

Isn't there a B29 or something like that in the Foxfour campaign?

If I remember right the B24 is still a MDL file, which means it takes an aircraft slot.

Well I have a model of the F4F4. Its gear up so I'll have to do a crashed model. As soon as I get one with the gear down I can do the ones ready for repair.

David Eckert has a P&W twin wasp model that i can use for the pulled engine or in an open cowl. I'll do what i can to keep the poly count down.
