David Copley's updated P-38 models uploaded

Hi Guys,

I checked for crash checks and light states with a hex editor. They all came out clean. So I don't think that could be it.

Ps, The cab gauge file is only for the record - it's what was used with the panel in FS2004.

Hi Rami,

More information please - that's an issue I had not encountered. The cfg and air files are DCC's work. I only tweaked them to make them work in CFS2 - i.e. removing FS2004 commands that either don't work or are not relevant in CFS2. DCC said he spent a lot of time matching the air files performance to the real aircraft and therefore should be pretty good.

I haven't tested them extensively. Once I got them working in CFS2, I stopped removing code. Test them out and if you spot a problem, let me know. I have a totally different P-38J set that I developed for the 82nd FG campaign that I can fit to the model and release to replace if necessary.

DCC F-5E-2 Photo Lightning Issue and Fix

Something strange was going on with the Eyes of Texas F-5E. I noticed it when seeing Maskrider's screen shots in the P-38J post. The lower nose camera panel was turning black when your view point moved away from it. I don't know why but changing the camera.bmp format from DTX1 to DTX3 cured it. I've updated the zip file in the Warbirds library download.

You may download the fixed file or you also may have the option of simply changing the Eyes of Texas F-5E camera.bmp to DTX3 if you have the DTX1 Bitmap Manipulator program from Martin Wright.

Kurt,

Many thanks for converting and releasing these...we needed an expanded Lightning set for CFS2. :wiggle:

Kurt,

The AI in the original Morton DCC conversion wouldn't keep pace with a player lead above 150 knots or so. Pen32Win gave me a set of revised .cfg and .air files a while back for the DCC P-38F, G, H, and J that stripped out a lot of FS9 info and made the AI behavior must more consistent in CFS2.

Kurt,

Beautiful job on this...a photo Lightning was sorely missing in the CFS2 arsenal. Well done. :encouragement:

Hi Rami

I just built a test mission with 8 P-38Js at 30,000 ft. The wingmen kept perfect formation at 215 knots. I then dove to 20,000 feet reaching 380 knots and they were still in formation when I leveled out at 360 knots. I'd say no issue, but please check for yourself.

In the readme I see where it says to place a P38diveflap.wav in the main Sound folder, and a .dll file in the gauges folder. But I don't see those files in the download. If those were missing, would that cause a crash?

:redfire:I echo Ramis sentiments, it is so good to finally have a Photo Recon P38 in the sim. Thank you Captain Kurt.:medals:
