DC-2 X Released!

Ferry_vO

Retired SOH Administrator
The "UIVER" team is pleased to announce the release of the Douglas DC2 for FSX.

This is a complete rework as a TRUE native FSX product, with improved 3D modelling, complete new textures, mapping, bumpmaps, specular maps, FSX animations, new gauge programming etc.
We thank our customers for the purchase of the FS2004 model, and hope they will support the museum by purchasing this improved FSX model as well.

The revenue from the sales will be donated to the Aviodrome, Dutch National Aviation Theme Park and Museum. Aviodrome has one of the worlds last two airworthy Douglas DC-2's in their collection.
The real plane is maintained by volunteers and with the money raised from individual and corporate donations. By selling the DC-2 package we hope to contribute to keeping this unique, priceless and historic aircraft in flying condition. Your purchase will be a very welcome contribution!
The package will be sold through the Flight1 system.

For complete information on the features of this package and a link to download the Douglas DC2 for FSX please visit the DC2 UIVER site http://www.dc2-fs.com. Support issues and questions will be handled through our forum.

The "UIVER" Team hopes you will enjoy flying this unique, hands-on classic airplane!

Skint at the moment but as soon as the old pay check come in this will be one I'll get for sure I have the old fs9 one, but I'll happily upgrade to this again!
Loving that last shot Ferry!

Oops...

You know, Mr. Douglas and I just seem to have this bad relationship. I can’t seem to get near one of his planes without bending it. So here I took my brand new shiny DC-2 up for a spin around Edwards AFB and the first thing I do is over-speed the gear and flaps. They wouldn’t come up or go down. Just stuck there. Lucky for me I was at Edwards, so I could land on the soft (more or less) dry lake runway and try to minimize the damage. Had to fly all the way around the base to get set up to land into the wind, which runway 22 was. I figured the slower I started sliding across the dust on the DC-2’s belly, the faster I would come to a stop. We all walked away, but I’m afraid the Douglas is slightly bent. I promise I’ll fix it up like new, then I’ll go find the manual and look up gear and flap no-exceed speeds…

This is a great plane. Thanks, UIVER Team!

From the top of my head the flaps down speed limit is at 87 knots, Paul.
You'll be surprised to see how slow it will still fly! It can land much slower than a DC-3, yet in cruise it is faster. You will have to respect the old lady though and keep an eye on the CHT to keep the engines in one piece. Keep her at 2,000 rpm and 30 inch manifold pressure and you can fly until the fuel runs out though.

:)

Well done guys. I really enjoyed the last version, I look forward to trying this when I have room to setup my PC!

What's next :wiggle:

A long time of R&R, that's what's next! :ernae:

It's been over a year since Rob sent me the first FsX version, and ten months since the first Beta was sent to the testers.

It's been a long process, and now that she's released I think we'll sit back for a bit.

Wow! This bird is great very realistic, on my first two flights I must have overcooked the speed and so got a hydraulic failure, I'm so glad that this realism has been included it makes such a difference!
