DC Designs P3D native FA-18F/G Super Hornet

Lovin' this jet! Here's the other VX-9 for the F/A-18E. Still some details to finish like stencils and jet intake warnings and the like. Hopefully will be uploaded in a few days. I don't have FSX installed anymore so not sure how it'll look there.
Wow, awesome repaints!! :)

I don't know if this has already been noted, but the AMRAAM on station 6 of the E model is mounted too far back on the pylon. Enjoying it just the same.

Good spot Ken, many thanks, will put that right in the imminent update :)

Dc designs F-18 rear cockpit and crew figures

Having fun with the Hornets but for the life of me I cannot get the rear cockpit or the crew animations to appear. I am Running FSX SE and wondered if these were P3D only? Has anyone else seen this?
cheers

Good timing - an update is almost ready, and this was one of the bugs spotted. The FSX version's WSO position has a GUID that works fine in P3D but not, for some reason, in FSX. Quick fix is to grab a new one off the Internet and replace the WSO view's GUID in the aircraft.cfg file. The update will of course have this already done. The crew are toggled using a red button that is in both cockpits, right hand side panel, near the front.

And update included chocks,covers,ribbons?
Not this time around I'm afraid, as I have run out of time - I had to prioritise things that lots of people requested such as SWS ICLS compatibility and of course actual bug fixes . However, it's on the wish list for further updates ( will definitely be there by the time FS2020 is released and possibly before ). I will make sure they're on the F-15s upon release and then can use the codes to add them to the Hornets later down the road.

Hi Zsolt, I'm afraid if I tried to incorporate every single request from every single user, the aircraft would never be published. Things like that may seem simple to add, but in reality they're not ( especially when they have to appear on multiple different airplane models - three for FSX, three for P3D, three for X-Plane 11 and soon three more for FS2020! ). It all takes a lot of time, and of course the updates would ( quite rightly ) be expected for free despite often taking many days to perform. I will always try to add as much as I can, but cosmetic additions like hydraulic droop and covers etc will always take second place to bug fixes and essential flight requirements in aircraft models like these, which are aimed at the casual user, not the study-level detail fan.

On the current version in P3D, hopped in and launched as designed. Read about the previous bugs, but wondering if the GPS MFD is your own gauge and will it interface with the FSX/P3D stock unit for controls or a chance for a de-clutter option?

The GPS is actually the stock unit, altered slightly to be easier to read. I might well be able to add a de-clutter option at some point, and will make a note of it.

quote Aerotime.aero yesterday : "Germany has officially confirmed to the United States that it would acquire 45 F / A-18 Super Hornets from Boeing to replace part of the Panavia Tornado fleet".
Is this repaint available ?
greetings

A a little bit what if......

The old German Tornados will be replaced in the near future. Within the next two weeks there will be a decision what plane will make this replacement... the F-18 or the Eurofighter. Just now it looks like the F-18 will make the race.

Then perhaps it will look something like this one :wiggle:

I did try to merge the F1 GTN750 in for the WSO's massive display, but need to check my sizing. I just flew my 1st long x-country in it last night, 2+ hours in the F. I do have list of things I'd like to change while staying within the basic parameters, but I'm sure DC's got a bug list already and besides I'm looking forward to the Eagles. Trying to work in Tacpack as well and read up on the VC FLIR.

Yes, thinking about this package ... :)

In his F-15 thread, Dean alluded to "dozens" of repaints for this package. I'm aware only of the one here on SOH by (I think? ) MikeW , two on Avsim by Anthony Oakland, and one by Dean himself on Simviation

Can someone point me to where the bulk of these repaints live?

Thanks very much,

dl

EDIT - I think I found them - Groom Lake Simulations did (or are hosting) a bunch.

thx.

Awesome looking plane so far! However would anybody care share any tweaks that would enable it to get to design speed. I can't seem to get over Mach 1.2 at 40000 even in clean configuration. I know it's not a study sim aircraft but it should be able to do at least 1.6 at that altitude. Any help appreciated!

I agree that the each model look great. I haven't tried going that fast. My biggest issue is that my aircraft tip over when turning on the ground even at slow speed.
