DCG Problem/Theory

I have been trying to set up a DCG flying with VMF-214 in the Solomons. It seems that no matter what I do, I get and error when trying to fly the mission - DCG generates the mission normally, reports no errors, but when I go into the sim to fly it, I get a "Mission file is corrupted" error.

Here's my theory - with all of the lovely GSL scenery that I have in place in the same areas, I have exceeded the file size/or object number size limit for a mission, which really only applies to Windows 98. I say this, because I can open the mission in MB, and fly it from there. It gave me some messsage about Win 98 having a maximum mission file size, I figured, OK, I'm running XP, and sure enough the mission ran in MB.

So I'm going to try disabling the GSLs in the area, and see if that helps. I only have, I think 14 squadrons, and 11 or so airfields in the DCG. Do GSL objects count against these totals and limitations? Anyone else seen this?

Thanks,

Hi Ghostrider,

The last DCG mission I flew had 31 squadrons and 238 pieces of mission infrastructure. The mission was in my Europe install, which has tons of GSL infrastructure. I'm running XP.

I think Pen32win discovered a 240 object mission infrastructure limit, but I've never exceeded that, so I don't know. How many objects do you have in your "infrastructures" file?

Other than that, there could be an error in one of your campaign files, most likely the "squadrons" file. It's difficult to predict what a syntax error in a campaign file might do, but the bottom line is, all the files need to be perfect, syntax-wise. Even an incorrect number of leader spaces at the end of a file can cause a problem.

Thanks for the input, Ettico -

It's all case-sensitive, too, right? I'll go back to checking all of that stuff closely - I did run the DCG check program that checks for potential problems, until I got everything cleaned up, but I understand that's not the final word either.
