Fantastic News for Warbird Lovers!!!:jump: From Producer Matt Wagner,Point #4 DCS Flying Legend Aircraft.

"In the coming months we plan to release several new projects. While we wish to have open communications with our customers and let them know of our planned projects, please understand that plans often change due to unforeseen circumstances. The below list is a road map of our intentions and not a promise of things to come. As each product nears completion and feature lists are finalized, more details will be provided.

1- Combined Arms. This $19.99 add-on will allow A-10C, Black Shark 2, and Flaming Cliffs 3 owner to act as ground force commanders as the mission is running. Users can direct ground units, set fire missions for artillery/multiple rocket launchers, and take the role of a Joint Terminal Air Controller (JTAC). As the JTAC, players will have night vision goggles, IR pointer, laser designator, and Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR). Several other new items are still being considered. Combined Arms will work in both single player and multiplayer missions.

2- Flaming Cliffs 3. This will be a paid-for update to the Flaming Cliffs series and brings it to the same world, mission editor, AI, units, etc. as A-10C and Black Shark 2. We plan to include several upgrades to the aircraft, a resource management system, and several other new features. This will also make Flaming Cliffs online compatible with A-10C and Black Shark 2. Pricing will depend on what new features are included.

3- Nevada map. This will be a $19.99 add-on that will be compatible with A-10C, Black Shark 2, and FC3. Users that purchased the A-10C beta will get this map for free.

4- The first "DCS Flying Legends" aircraft will be released in the first half of 2012.

5- The next US fixed wing jet DCS aircraft is being worked on in parallel."

For Combined Arms and the Nevada map, a single purchase will allow these add-ons to work with A-10C 1.1.1.0, Black Shark 2, and FC3.

Has there been any word/hint at what aircraft will be covered in "Flying Legends"?

It's about time that The Fighter Collection, a WWII-themed flying museum, who offers these modern flight simulators, will have a WWII/vintage-type offering.

Hello John. Someone was looking through the recent A-10C/Black SharkII compatibility patch that was just released and noticed a folder called P-51B,I believe TFC had this arcraft till this summer.

Also a Member of TCF Stated The Aircraft variant that DCS is doing is No Longer Owned by TFC.So early money is going on a P-51B.:jump:

I'm rooting for a P-51D Model or one of The many Grumman Ironworks birds they have.:applause:

Well done video from this past summers Duxford Airshow featuring many of The Fighter Collection Warbirds

The plan looks good, but as a long time supporter of ED and DCS I don't see this panning out well.If I remember,DECS said during the Black shark development time it would release a new aircraft about every 9 months or so for about 5 years. The only new aircraft I'm aware of is the A-10,if you call it a "new aircraft".

As i am flying DCS A-10 also, i hope we dont have to battle in that "whatever Warbird it will be" over the Kaukasus/Black Sea Region! Its always the same since Lock On and i must confess im tired of it (cant wait for the Nevada Map).

I think we should keep the faith. I can't see Eagle Dynamics disappointing us. Developers should make whatever products they feel passionate about -- not the products that the customers plead for. I see development work a bit like my own anthropological work -- we do whatever is most interesting to us, and if we do a good enough job, then others will be interested as well. You could think of it in terms of the colloquial expression: "if you build it, they will come."

I would personally love to see DCS bring us a Korean war era sim with the F-86, or an F-84. For all we know, they could be developing a WWII Russian puddle jumper that we could use in CSAR or AFAC roles. Whatever they turn out, I have no doubt that their work will impress us, and I don't think it is a zero-sum game. Some people seem to think that if DCS puts energy into making a warbird, that it takes people and resources away from another modern aircraft -- I think that is a deeply flawed way of thinking about things. They seem to have the resources to pull it all off, and I think we should trust them.

The bottom line here, is that 2012 is going to be a great year for our hobby. It looks like we have Jet Thunder right around the corner, new titles from DCS, Microsoft Flight, and excellent work being done by Milviz, IRIS, and A2A, plus a host of smaller developers and freeware artists. Frankly, I am very very happy with the state of affairs around here. It feels like a Flight Sim renaissance, and I am glad to be living through it at an age when I finally have a bit of extra money to invest in it.

Cheers,

Chris I couldn't agree more:applause: The recent release of Black Shark II Really caught me by surprise, and for the price of a few beers it's like a new Sim.I'm Loving it!

We have gone through quite a dry spell as flight simmers but things are really looking very good.To be Honest I Fly 98% non Combat in The DCS A-10C,I like the flight Dynamics so much.I'm sure whatever Warbird they produce will have the same excellent standards of High Fidelity that the A-10C Has.It's a Win-Win for us and The recent Resurgence of our Hobby!

No,not Dim at all,I should of listed this as O.T.I brought it up here because lots of FSX users are also interested in DCS and WWII Aircraft.
