DD26 - Golden Age - DH.80 Puss Moth

Well this is an extension of what I had here yesterday.

Poor visibility at lower levels. Head winds all around.

To try and stay out of the winds I dropped down to 500' above sea level and I am still getting 15 kts right on the nose.

The fuel situation might be critical now as I dropped 20% that I thought I would not need. However at this altitude I am burning 11 GPH not 9 GPH.

Its a long way to go and hopefully I will get some help from the winds.
 
Well I got sucked into going up for the promisses of a tail wind.

Of course as I went up it continued to roll over on the nose.

So I planted myself at 3500' with a cross wind. This gave me all the extra range I needed.

Hanging out at 3500 it started to look real good at 5900'. So I headed up and got a slightly quartering tail wind.

That snapped around to a 13 knot tail wind.

I hope it holds out.
 
Over the Med and safely in Syria

About 400 nm to go.

Winds have been kinder for the last 300nm of this trip but its not over yet.

More than enough fuel on board there will be no need to divert.
 
Well we have sat on the ground far too long.

The weather looks pretty crappy so what the heck let the flight begin. :applause:

Well we are safely out of the storm and it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Do to the winds I climbed much higher than I originally flight planned for. I deemed 24 kts of quartering tail wind better than 16 kts on the nose. The problem is I had to come up to 10,000 to get it.

Oh well saved me from climbing up later I quess.

My ETE is for some time tomorrow.
 
Just as I feared

the long range NDB just came into range 113nm and I am going to have to go to work. Which means pausing the sim shortly.

I am going to stretch it out as long as I can.

We will see how close I can get. :kilroy:

After a short rest its off to VIAL

This is a short hop so we dumped out a fair amount of fuel planning on fueling up in once we get there.
