I recall being on crypto-sec course back in the 90s in Esquimalt, and seeing a Tribal class (can't recall which) in dock. Though in civies (but having my DND ID), I talked the duty officer into giving me a tour. Near the end, he introduced me to the skipper, who happened to just come aboard to check on some minor issue. Having been introduced just by my rank and as "just visiting from out of province" - the CO seemed to assume I was also Navy. When he asked me what my last cruise was, and I replied that the 20 min I had just spent on his boat was all the time I had ever spent aboard an operational naval vessel - because I was in fact an army officer - he summarily ordered the nearest petty officer to escort me off. Halfway down the gangway, he called back - said it was just a joke - and he, all the crew that happened to be either within earshot aboard or on the dock (at least a dozen or so) and (eventually) I, all had a good laugh.
Rumours of a Bonaventure ... yikes ... dare I hope?
I just laid down some preliminary licks on Bonaventure this morning. Loaded templates, made the flight deck and bare hull, started working on shaping the hurricane bow .
Keep going on Melbourne! That way I can look into a modernised C class DD and a Mackenzie. And a Bunny ear ASW 280!Latter!
Last bets, V3. The general release will be in the upload queue tonight.
Revised Sea Sparrow deck house, VLS, LIMBO, removed drawing 'jigs'... lots of stuff.
Its in the redme. YOU WILL HAVE TO UPDATE YOUR AICARRIERS CONFIG. The names changed to keep things straight.
I've spotted a few little things to dial in, and the last changes made to the DDH-280's mast. Not bad for a 5 day shake 'n bake project
Impressed to see the LIMBO mortar still getting used ? .. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
LIMBO stayed aboard until the Tribal Update Modification Program in the late `80`s early `90`s. Want a good laugh. It took 3 years to build a Tribal from the keel up, and 3 years per ship to perform the TRUMP mods. The total cost of the 4 ship program was 242 million. DND has been chasing its tail on a DDH-DDG-280 replacement since the mid `80`s, spending just under a billion dollars on studies, project definitions, studies, RFP`s, studies. And has, for that money, not procured as much as a nut or bolt.
The DND has, however, kept Office Depot very happy...
Uploaded to the library here, and at Simviation, 3 major configurations- DDH-280's, Operation FRICTION HMCS Athabascan, and TRUMP DDG-280's. View attachment 88726
