Once you helped me on how to put in Japanese Carriers for training to land on them, I had your instructions for this but cannot find them, is it possible you can give me those instructions again? I would be most appreciated.

Thank You

Casey,

We can modify the stock MS carrier landing mission, or if you want, just make a new mission using the CV and aeroplane of your choice.

If you want to just modify the stock mission:

1. Go to CFS 2 Root > Missions > carrier_landing.mis file
2. Open with word or notepad
3. Scroll down and replace ALL the allegiance numbers of 3 with 4 like this:

allegiance=4

There are four or five instances of this datum line, so make sure you modify all of them so the mission will properly load under the Japanese menu and so that the ships are all on your side.

4. Scroll down to near the bottom and look for the (unit_type.X) sections:
5. Replace the units with a plane and ships of your choice (must be in your ship's folder) like this:

[unit_type.0]
type_id=3818
unit_family=1
name=A6M2_Zero

[unit_type.1]
type_id=6004
unit_family=7
name=SHJ_Hiryu

[unit_type.2]
type_id=6008
unit_family=5
name=SHJ_Kumano

[unit_type.3]
type_id=6014
unit_family=5
name=SHJ_Kagero

6. Continue to the "[strings]" section and replace the mission name and then down to the bottom and replace the "player_aircraft_name_string" with the plane of your choice and the the "name_string.X" datum lines with names of your choice.

Like this:

"player_aircraft_name_string"=A6M2_Zero
"name_string.0"=Kamikaze
"name_string.1"=IJN Hiryu-CARDIV2
"name_string.2"=Kumano
"name_string.3"=Kagero
"name_string.4"=Amatsukaze
"name_string.5"=Hagikaze
"name_string.6"=Hamakaze
"name_string.7"=Isokaze
"name_string.8"=Yukikaze

The above names are all correct for the Hiryu CV, the Kumano CA and the Kagero Class destroyers so there is some authenticity to the mission. Those names will now show up on your screen if you select the display unit name option under the View menu. Note that all the destroyer names end in "kaze." This means wind as I understand it and IJN destroyers were often named for atmospheric events or phenomena. Ie: Kamikaze = Divine Wind

Save the file/mission as "carrier_landing_Japanese.mis" or whatever you want to name it. If it doesn't work for you, PM me and I'll send the mission to you. For some reason I couldn't attach the mission file to this thread.

Here's our A6M2 Zero after trapping on the Hiryu with a Kumano Class heavy cruiser (CA) off to port. The plane is actually from the Shokaku of CARDIV 5 by its single white band. The pilot must have got mixed up and landed on the wrong CV.
