Death of Chris Westervelt, Mask Rider, my brother

Very sad news.
Landing on a Maskrider field is still one of the delights of CFS2.
Thanks for all you have given us Chris.
 
My condolences. Very sad news indeed. Another legend of the CFS2 has gone. Like for many of us, his airfields really made CFS2 really come alive. And his airfields are the things I still miss since I have moved to FS2004 (already ages ago).

CFS2 was my real intro into the flight sim world all those years ago and Mask Rider's contributions were a big part of it.

I hope his website can be backed up or saved for posterity.
 
So sad to lose a man who has given so much freely to this community. He is a collaborator and a friend, and is part of my life, as he is in others.
 
Mrs' passing.....

....there are no words that I can post ,or say, that would alleviate the pain that his family must be enduring at this time. I was on a extended trip and looked at this site on a public computer and my heart sank. I had did some historical research for Chris for his Pacific updates and it was the most informing time I have had. He was great to correspond with and always answered any inquiries promptly. We shared a common navy experience both being tin can guys and serving at approx. the same period in similar MOS's. He radar and mine sonar. He , Talon, Kelti are some of the ones who have gone before and will be listed as amongst those who transformed this game to a lesson in realism and history.
MR, you may be gone from us physically but you forever be remembered in the forum.
RIP MR.

I am indeed saddened to read this post , my condolences to his family , Chris well always be remembered on this form , as one of the best at his craft , :encouragement:
 
What a terrible loss for the community, he was a great friend and I will miss him dearly. I have such fond memories of him from the time he turned his first sod in scenery design to see him grow into one of the most prolific and best in the business. I’m currently in communication with Mary Chris’s daughter regarding his files and what we can do to get them uploaded so his memory can live on. She’s a bit of novice computer user but with some guidance I’m confident we can achieve it.
