Decent freighter aircraft?

I'm just starting to get into tubeliners having previously been all about military aviation in FSX, and I quite fancy doing some cargo runs around the globe. The only really large high fidelity, detail packed freighter I can find seems to be the PMDG 747, however this is a little bit expensive for my tastes. I know Wilco do an A380 but they don't appear to have a dedicated freighter model.... are there any decent big freighter aircraft for FSX floating around that I haven't discovered yet?

Plus, of course, there is a civilian add-on for the CS C130X if you already have that... ;) (L100 is the civvy version).

Another option, depending on what you are into, is the Sky Simulations DC-9 package (plus patch), on which the graphics aren't so hot but it is a systems sim and comes with a number of different length DC-9 box haulers.

I and another 747 freighter captain worked with PMDG on theirs. I realize it is expensive, but it is the only one that replicates all of the features of the flight managment and control system. It is good enough that I use it to review normal and emergency events for the real sim checks.

I have flown many of the actual individual aircraft reflected in the paints.

Thats good to know Fliger! I have heard it was a pretty good package.

Awesome to know you were a part of its creation.

Yep the Captainsim 727 looks really nice...(I prefer the "steam gauges" as opposed to modern MFDs) I'm stroking my debit card waiting for it to go on sale. I just don't know if I'll get the chance to fly it as often as I would like if I'm going to spend $50 on it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the PMDG MD-11. It is the most advanced and modern freighter for MSFS. Pretty good on FPS too! I believe it to be one of the best addons for FSX, alongside the Lotussim L-39 and A2A accusimmed P-47 :medals:

Some of their 737 series are native although the ones I have are all the passenger versions, no cargo or mil versions. I'm not sure if those have been converted as I haven't checked POSKY in a while

Just checked, no new models.

If one doesn't need opening cargo doors there would be still the possibility to simply put a cargo skin on a pax model...

It seems that Captain Sim is having a sale, so it's maybe a good opportunity to get the 727 package.

For something out of the ordinary, there is also A2A's B377. It includes the pregnant guppy. You'll only be hauling Saturn V rocket parts though. :)
