Default Cub, getting airborne

All this talk about Cubs has made me wonder if I would actually fly a payware model, A2A's or FR's, if I bought one. I fire up the default Cub, but when I apply throttle it wants to tip over.

What am I doing wrong?

Apply throttle slowly and reach full in stages or the torque monster will get you every time in that aircraft. She is very light so it goes without saying.

The default Cub is a mess.

Go here and get Alexander Metzger's revised flight dynamics. A much better guide to your Cub flying skils.

The A2A Cub is in a different league, but Metzger's performs very well. Both are easier to fly than the default.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Dangerous Beans, you beat me by a couple of seconds. I defer to you, sir.

Great minds, though...:icon_lol:

Curiously, the default Cub flies nothing like the A2A version. I've always had the same problem taking off that you outlined. With the A2A version? No problem at all.

Somewhere here I posted a revised FM for the stock cub quite a while ago. I don't know if it stil resides here after all the website troubles.

A number of "stockers" have been a bit more difficult to fly than the planes they are supposed to represent.
