Default Goose Nav/Landing lights issue

Roger

Senior Administrator
Did anyone ever suss out the fx file called for by the Goose nav lights? If so and if it's specific to the Goose, then it could be removed and Nav lights could be added to the "Lights" section in the usual way. Then the annoying bug that Landing and Nav lights are only on at the same time could be solved.

I fixed the Maule but the existing nav lights are there, so it's a semi-fix. I was hoping that someone had already done the hard work lol!

Maule semi fix using the "L" keys (if you have A2A lights)...

[LIGHTS]
Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit
light.0 = 3, -1.23, -16.35, 2.55, fx_shockwave_navred
light.1 = 3, -1.23, 16.35, 2.55, fx_shockwave_navgre
light.2 = 3, -17.05, 0.00, 4.55, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l
light.3 = 2, -1.23, -16.35, 2.55, fx_shockwave_strobe
light.4 = 2, -1.23, 16.35, 2.55, fx_shockwave_strobe
light.5 = 4, -2.24, 0.00, 2.20, fx_shockwave_vclight
light.6 = 5, .7, -12.2, 2.5, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_tail // Shockwave light
light.7 = 5, .7, 12.2, 2.5, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_tail // Shockwave light

Meow, Henry!!! :icon_lol:

Seriously, though, the lights are part of the .mdl file, so you could only alter them if you had the original source files. As we don't, we can't. :(

Okay,
If you are prepared to switch lights by the keyboard "L" and "Ctrl L", then it can be done. Start with "L" and after take off key "Ctrl L" and the landing lights and Nav lights coded in the model will be off...but the extra lights in the new lights section will still be on as in the screenshot. If you don't have the Shockwave lights use the standard FsX fx names. Oh and the vc light section puts the vc light the right side of the panel!
Here's the lights section of the .cfg

Yes H,
The aircraft in my shots is one of the redux versions. As I said above the only problem is that the fx lights don't follow the floats when down.
Lights can be switched within the cockpit using modeled switches.

thanks
i do not normally mess with the light switch in the cockpit
because it takes me a while to find them
and by then i have crashed:kilroy:

Some of the lights can also be controlled by independent key presses, for instance shift-l is cockpit lighting, ctrl-l is landing lights... Can't remember any of the others, but they are all assignable to buttons or keystrokes.

If the new nav lights could be controlled by another keystroke then they could be switched off when water landing or taking off. However I cannot find other key strokes in the lighting menu for FsX like there were for Fs9.
It may be possible to assign the 3 nav lights to the smoke key and I may try that tomorrow.
