this is looking very tastey ... seemsd like will be trip down history on behalf of the courage and fight that was and is

Battle of Britain, August 28th 1940, 264 squadron engaged He111's that were heading to Rochford near Dover.

Once again, losses were high, this was the last major daylight mission for the Defiant.

Each mission starts in the air in the middle of a dogfight, aircraft is in good position to fire at a bandits.

How to play:
1: engage auto pilot

2 (optional, only for real men): press shift+B to be in a realistic configuration, it down the back of the aircraft for the turret.

3: jump into the turret and fire at the bandits.

4: once mission goal is achieved, come back in the pilot position and do what you have to do such as try a second pass, try to survive to the escort or whatever...

The defiant had a 'bridge' between the main cockpit and the gunner turret which improved aerodynamics so it could go faster; however, it restricted the maneuverability of the turret and so was lowered in combat. Shift+B dose this, only so far as I know it has no actual effect in the game on aerodynamics or turret mobility.

Missions look amazing!:jump:

Found this on WikipediA :"The gunner could rotate the turret directly forward and transfer firing control of the guns to the pilot, with the guns firing along each side of the cockpit canopy. However, in practice this was rarely done as the turret's minimum forward elevation was 19° and the pilot did not have a gunsight."

So in a way the xdp file could be modified so the gunner could fire forward.

''So in a way the xdp file could be modified so the gunner could fire forward.''

That would be cool! Does anyone know of any reports of this? -and also was the fuselage to the rear of the turret raised and lowered as well? :mixedsmi:

I didn't knew that Defiants were able to fire forward.

Yes, absolutely.

Shift+B is the key to open bomb doors.

So, it is not necessary to do it with the Defiant but I find it more immersive to engage a dogfight in a realistic configuration. Problem is that you lose about 1 second, which can do the difference between landing sefely and being under a parachute...
