Defiant Mk1 update fix

I have fixed the Defiant M1. It has the correct turrent and fixed XDP. I have added an update package to Reg's for those that already have it. Sorry abouts this guys.
The Mk11 will be updated tomorrow. Looks like it has a Texture issue which I will need Johns help with.

Onwards and Upwards

Seacondor, firstly thanks for such an awesome warbird.

Now about "The Mk11 will be updated tomorrow. Looks like it has a Texture issue..."

Would you please elaborate on your efforts in correcting that particular issue.

We have several aircraft in ETO that cause the same problem in multiplayer at the moment.

What you discover can possibly help us correct them in the future, and or, avoid the fault from happening again in future projects.

This falls under the "pertinent poop" catagory in military speak.

I do realize that it may be too late for revision, in the case of the textures of the aircraft that are already in ETO, but the information you can provide is critical as stated above.

And lastly, if there is any need of playtesting in the future, or if you'd be interested in mentoring a fellow enthusiast in GMAX and the related applications, of which I have installed all of them already as I have been modding at an intermediate level since CFS1, I'd truly be endebted and would be willing to tackle some of the other missing pieces of our hobby. My POC is JK_Jupiter@hotmail.com and I am on Eastern Standard Time.

Long may you fly... ~S~

I don't think it is a texture issue you are having. If I remember right it was the Mk1. As you pointed out there was a typo in the XDP which is fixed it the patch. Could you give it a test now in MP to see if it has fixed the issue.

Sure thing

We placed the Defiants in stock CFS3 and didn't have the same problem.

We are continuing to test in ETO to discern why only the Mk II causes the multiplayer fault there within.

Why is it that the gun trigger is slaved on the Mk II and it also has a forward HUD reticule when the Mk I does not?

This means that it is most likely a modeling issue as the .xdps are now identical except for the obviously necessary changes pertaining to each model.

I'm afraid I will have to hold off fixing the MK2 till the Weekend. There is a problem with the gear which will require some major tinkering. I have to do this with care or we will end up with a mole. The fix isn't that bad it's just that this type of tinkering can create more of a problem than what you started with unless it is tested properly.
Sorry about this. I expect you don't want to down load it 3 times.

Making Omlettes

Sir,

I would download this plane 30 more times if necessary.

It was a blast when we used these in a custom mission of mine last night.

The enemy flights on a nearby airfield were straffed by us using zoom and boom tactics.

I was grinning ear to ear as I pulled out of passes with my AI rear gunner raking the taxiers.

We scored so many ground kilt victories that Pappy Boyington himself would have been proud.

And against those I-16 type aircraft in aerial pursuit of me, my AI scored a kill there as well.

All and all this is a great great great piece of machinery, you are right to be proud of it indeed.

And about reports of "motion sickness" when in the rear gunners position as a player...

When you can physically affect your audience viza vi your media, you are truly an artist. :applause:

Sorry to report I have a major problem on my hands. My computer with all the web site and model files has been currupted by a MS auto update. It won't close down or start. Hopefully my computer people can fix it. This means another delay. Cross fingers and toes. This is just a hiccup.

In my download the a/c has a different shaded underbelly; white on the right side and darc on the left:isadizzy:

Dark and light undersides

I know that the Germans used this same technique to signal searchlight and AA crews to alert them not to fire planes marked this way. There were several patterns used similar in approach to the one you see on the Defiant. Not sure why the British did this but it was not a mistake and was a purposeful tactic.

Black and white (or whitish) undersides were used on RAF day fighters from 1938 until June 1940 as an aid to identification by Observer Corps personnel on the ground. The Chain Home system could tell of enemy formations coming towards the English Coast, but could not track them once they were past, inland, That was the job of the Observer Corps, with binoculars and so on, as you'll have seen in many documentaries.

It was however not much use as camouflage, and from mid-June 1940, the undersides were ordered to be painted with Sky (or nearest offer - a bit complicated in fact), with or without roundels depending on the date and employment of the aircraft.

In November 1940, the black port wing (only - not the entire port side of the aircraft as before) was reintroduced, again for recognition purposes. This lasted until the spring of 1941.

I do have the dates of the various AMOs somewhere if you want to nit-pick, but to put it briefly, the Defiant is correctly painted. Check out some of my Spitfire skins - you'll see what I mean. The undersides of RAF fighters changed a great deal and relatively frequently between 1938 and the introduction of the Day Fighter Scheme (grey and green) in August 1941.

All is Ok. My computer is back from the shop intact. Seems it was a corrupt MS auto download that did the damage. It was like getting a virus from MS it's self. They must be cutting out the middle man these days... LOL . :d( It wasn't a virus just a bad download.)
Anyway I will be back fixing the Defiant tomorrow.

Another Prayer answered..
THANK GOD..

I am Very Grateful your machine will survive..
I have had my share of failed computers, and it is NO FUN..
Sometimes I am sure that these things, are harder to get along with then, a ex-wife in divorce court can be....

Owen,
I will have to agree with you there. At least it didn't stress me out this time like in the past.
I have 95% of my stuff backed up. It is just the last few weeks that would have been a problem. However it has made me look into a backup system using a double disk backup machine. Even with my new computer, which I have beside this one, I don't like backing up to it. It carries my high end Max so I like to keep it clean. Having the 2 computers has been a big help when doing LOD's. I can have one LOD open on one computer and the one I'm working on the other. This helps matching the part naming. I will be doing this on the weekend with the Defiants gear. It should save a lot of time and brain power. :)

Glad to hear it, Greg! You had us worried. Never mind all your personal stuff, but whenever a GMAX source goes missing, it's a sad day...
