Der Boche ez recrutink!!!

In memory of a great actor

Thank you, CATCH22, for this excerpt from the movie "The magnificent men and their flying machines" (I think that was the English title?).
The Germans may not be famous for their humour, but this film IS a great comedy, stating the finest humour: to be able to laugh about yourself. I love this movie, and the acting of Gert Fröbe and Karl Michael Vogler would deserve a Comedian Oscar. Vogler, who appears so tough and Dsherrrman in "The Blue Max", shows here, that he can cover the whole range, from drama to comedy.
The way, Gert Fröbe gives the archetype of a German Kaiser-Reich officer a figure and a face, is unbeaten, and I just laughed a bucketful, seeing him again. A pity, he's not with us anymore. Now - maybe from all the laughing - there's a tear in my eye. May be, generally, we Germans are rather melancholic romantics...
Hats off to Gert Fröbe, Gentlemen, please.

Hear, Hear (toasting a beer mug on OVs's Table,)

That is such a great movie, & one of my all time favourites,

Gert Frobes beatbox still makes me laugh - he must have had good clear sinuses to do it otherwise it would have been messy!!:icon_lol:

P.s. Thanks Awfully old chap for the kind invite to hop over to the hun side,

but once a krumpet man always a krumpet man - say wot old boy! :cost1:

Zhat's okay, Legion. For no reazon I could understand, I do actually like you British people. Vell, zhere are some good reasons: very good humour, very good popular music, very good beer (and zhis is an extraordinary compliment from a German offissa)!
