Wow... thanks for that. What a way to die, I'm glad it's only a game to us. Yes I know it's 'Hollywooded', but still, probably not far from the truth.

Thanks WF2! A damned sight better than Flyboys. I still want to see the movie.

Have only found the DVD available ( also on Blu-Ray ) on the Amazon German site, region-2. It is in German and you need to be able to play region-2 DVD's.

I can on my computers DVD Blu-Ray player.

Anyone in Europe able to purchase this and ship to USA? What would the cost be plus shipping in US Dollars?

Just curious,
WF2

OvS ..... yes, what a horrible way to die, very sad.

Kinda presses home the use of the service revolver, given in Flyboys

You can jump out without a parachute

You can ride that fireball all the way down

Or you can eat your own bullet

Looks interesting, thanks WF2

I have had good luck with Amazon USA,so would think that the same criteria will be applicable to A. Germany. Wouldn't think shipping thru regular Post, would be more than $15 US Dollars.

Ya, Ja, die Deutsche Sprache fügt einen Realismus zu Ihrem Posten hinzu.

I believe that was very much how Luftberry met his end according to Rickenbacker's account - after his plane caught fire he left the cockpit, moved down the fuselage toward the tail to escape the flames and then jumped...

I had read on another site that the DVD has no english subtitles available in it. Anyone know if that is true?

Any word if it will ever be release in the USA?

I would be very careful downloading from these types of Torrent sites. Just my opinion.

Hope at some point they do come out with an English version here in the USA ..... and yes no English subtitles on the DVD, darn!

Hey OvS .... sucks to be in that Camel too!!!!!

Cheers,

the movie, though a german production with german actors, was completely made in english hoping it woul be a kind of international blockbuster movie. so they dubbed it in german. since the movie was a completely failure in germany (it really is, i watched it in a theater and i considered it as one of the worst movies i ever have paid to watch. this sequence of womenfly is about 90% aircombat you will see in 120 minutes. the rest is a greasy, completely unhistorical love movie), it is possible it will never come to any theaters outside germany. but although this movie might not have english subtitle, maybe it is possible to watch it in english in the audio selection. anybody checked this?

I can buy into a love story version with some great action sequences ( how I get my wife to see them in the theater!)

But the trailers sure made the story and acting look stronger than Flyboys....I found myself wincing thru the dialog waiting for the flying scenes during that film

Creaghorn your synopsis sure makes this film sound even worse....but we have pretty bad movies in the states that are still pretty popular.

Was there a lot of support for the film before it came out?

Well it may not be historically acurate and weaved around a cheesy love story, but I'll take any movie I can get my hands on that even has a sniff of WW1 aviation in it.

PS. I thought for sure, right when it cut off, that one of the albatros' was gonna put the guy on fire out of his misery.

Or you could read my review of the movie.

Historically it is the worst movie ever about a war hero. Also for a movie about one of the greatest fighter pilots of this era it has astonishingly few flying scenes. Maybe in general the German public does not care.

You can change the Regional Code on most modern players easily. On mine, I must press "open", then press menue, then change the number, then press "menue" again, then "close" - and it's changed. Later, you do it again to change back. You can surely find the way for your model by typing in "(name of your player) codefree" at Google. Mostly easy to do.
I've seen the film and found it better than I had feared, as almost ALL the WW1 air combat movies show the same greasy love story. (Pilot falls in love with a nurse, who shows him in a hospital, how the bloody reality looks down on the ground.) Here, you get an impression of the everyday life at a German aerodrome. And yes - not very much combat scenes. But acting seemed much more realistic to me than Flyboys.

PS: looking at these boys in their tiny "wood and canvas" airframes, I find, you must be very young to do these aircrobatics- absolutely insane, when you watch it from "outside the plane".

Language

I also was wondering if the language can be changed in the menu/setup screen at the start of the DVD????

Hey Olham54 , I just googled my player "Sony DVP-NS57p Region Free DVD Player" and it will play PAL without doing anything !

I may just purchase this movie.

Thanks, :applause:
