I don't know when I have had so much trouble with missions Now I get "Error loading missions file" on all my attack missions in this series except the Henderson attack missions and the defense missions. I have reloaded all the JMK ships thinking they might be the problem, but still no progress.

It may be the JMK ships. Shadow Wulf may have used the ship dp's by Pen32Win.If he did it changes the family in the dp.Usio normally sets all his ships up as carriers so can have men in deck,With Pen32Win dps the ships aew set to the right family and category,plus the flak is cut down.

Not sure if that's the problem but worth looking into.I know it's not in the readme but may have been overlooked.

Indeed, as Talon said, the "stock" JMK (Usio) ships are family and category as aircraft carriers, regardless of whether it's a carrier, BB, DD etc. I made each of mine the correct fam and cat by changing the dp. I put a folder with replacement dps (and some cfgs) in the download itself and also referenced pen32win's download in the downloads readme. The DPs folder contains his (Pen32Win's) dps.

Shadow Wolf 07, I did not realize the ramifications of not using your enclosed DP & CFG files. Readme just said for "better playability"! Did not know either about Usio's ships set up as family carriers!
I am sure once I reconfigure based on the proper dp & cfg files, it will be OK.

That's my fault HP. I forgot to mention or for that matter think about what would happen if players didn't change the family and category of usio's ships to conform with the ones I and Pen use. Sorry...

Not complaining Shadow Wolf 07, I :salute:all you guys who do missions! Much, much work! I am still trying to learn the "ropes". They have about hung me !

Well, I went back and installed the provided dp & ship cfg files after first making copies and then deleted the cdp files, restarted CFS 2 PTO and those certain missions still will not load??????
About ready to wait til after Christmas to start over.
Having the same issues that Rami is looking at in Malta Missions!!
Could my mdl names list be too big?
How do you organize that mdl names list in alphabetical and with numbers to count? I have seen some threads that show that.

Yes, I added your mdl names to the list. It is easier to list those that work:
Sara Strike 2-1, 2-2, 2-3; Sara Intercept _1; Wasp Intercept_1Henderson strike 1 & 2; Henderson Defence 1AEnterprise ASP 1B ; Enterprise Scout_1; Enterprise Defence 1_A; Hornet Defence 1_A
The Sara Srike 2 series have only Kagero, Tone & Ryujo JMK ships.Enterprise Scout_1 has Kagero, Shokaku, & Zuikaku.
In the Recon attack & patrol that does not load there are JMK ships that work in other missions, but there is a shj_kagero in both that is not in any other of the missions.
In the Henderson strikes that load, there is the Isusu and Kagero. Of course the defense missions have no capital JMK ships.
If I am thinking right, that just leaves Sendai and Nisshin as possible problems.

You added the mdlnames to the (your) list??? Yes, size matters and you probably have a lot of duplication of entries if you did that. What is intended is that you backup your original and substitute mine for yours for this campaign (and my other campaigns).

shj_kagero is a "stock" ship and should be working.

Please educate me a little on the mdlnames file. I did as you instructed initially & copied my file and used yours in place of it. It made no difference, so I thought maybe I should "add" yours. What happens to my other missions in my PTO if I substitue your mdlnames for the "original" with all my other names required for the other missions in my PTO install?
I assumed that anytime you need mdlnames for the mission,you just add them to the existing file.

It does... plus the PTO addons that I've acquired like the LWD Trees and objects, Collin's and Usio's ships and others. The mdlnames file should only really come into play when you use Mission Builder, but it can also identify objects for missions, assigning a folder name to an object name (in mission).

Your problem sounds like it could stem from a: 1. JMK ship family/category conflict or 2. an aircraft conflict. If 2, be sure you downloaded and installed the SBD pack and the F4F pack and placed the aircraft included in the d/l into your main AIRCRAFT folder. The auto install for the SBD and F4F packs will place gauges, effects etc in the right folders for the planes included in the d/l as well as those in the packs.

Could you explain how to look for a ship family/category conflict? Or can I find help in Cody Coyote's Mission Building Handbook?
All the A/C were installed according to instructions and are working OK in several of the missions that load up.
Heading out for a few days.

I just got a Christmas present I decided this AM to look one more time at the ship family/catagory in the missions that were not loading while the Mrs is fixing homemade cinnamon rolls for bkfst. Frst I thought I would make another list of all the missions that were not loading. Now they ALL are loading and working. What prompted all this I have no idea. :isadizzy: I will think about it after the holidays--maybe!
The culprit may have been the mdlnames file. I will take the results of the two day hiatus regardless.

The conflict I and Talon referred to looks like this:

Take the info from near the bottom of the dp foe Usio's Mogami class heavy cruiser:

are for an aircraft carrier (CV), not a heavy cruiser (CA).

now let's look at the same data for the stock shj_Kumano dp:

See the difference? This is important when the mission author builds the mission with a CA Mogami and you have only a CV Mogami in your ship folder. When the mission loads, it looks for the CA Mogami and can't find it, hence the conflict and the mission might not load. Yours have to be changed (the substitute dps) for it to work right.

My problem with the mission loading was that I had downloaded and installed the wrong Zuikaku!
Sorry for all the harranging. I need to pay attention. Learned some things though in the process of detective work.

Yes, comrade Usio has several variants for many of his capital ships. One has to be careful when listing and/or downloading them. I hope you enjoy... :salute:
