Hear Ye, Hear Ye

All "youse" B-24J pilots we'd like you to join us. We have all the repaints done for 12 original 764th Squadron aircraft for the Virtavia B24J FSX and also for P3D with an expanded TacPacked panel and you can see all the work that Ed has done for us to fly FSX@War. He and I are flying together in JoinFS the original transit from the US to Italy in segments. Two done and the third is on Monday at 10 Eastern US time. We have our own dedicated TS3 Channel on the SOH Server generously provided and also our own server on Join FS. The more pilots...more fun. PM Ed or I if you can fly Monday morning (EDT) and we'll send you the flight plan and parking assignment. Like the old TV commercial used to say: "TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT!"

Change that Monday to Tuesday. (1400z/1000 EST) I have a prior commitment Monday. This leg we will be testing the JoinFS "Shared Cockpit" between two different sims. (FSX and P3Dv4)

Clear Your Calendar

Just so you guys can see what fun we're having, come and fly with us in any B-24, B-17, B-25 or C-47 you happen to have on Tuesday in JoinFS in either FSX, FSX-SE or any version of P3D. All four of these aircraft flew our South Atlantic route to North Africa and onto Italy or Corsica. All are welcome this is a fun flight just for a couple of hours. Ed and I will be sharing the cockpit. Just PM either one of us before Monday night so that you can be sent the flightplan and the scenery package to be ready to go on Tuesday.

A Real Plane With A Likely Paintjob

On the 461st Bomb Group Website (Real One) under aircraft I found the P-40 above with photos. They also have a note that says they had P-38 Lightning(s) but no one can seem to find photos of them. I own Flight Sim Developers P-38 package so I decided to do a 461st Bomb Group Hack P-38J Lightning. I painted the tails in the Group markings and painted Liberaider 2 on the left boom cowling. Fictional paint scheme but a real airplane used by the group staff officers like the P-40 was. Here are a couple screenshots:

The FSD P-38 is a really nice plane IMHO with bombs;rockets or drop tanks optional and can be dropped in flight with the aircraft menu which also controls which ordnance and visible/absent pilot in the cockpit. I flew all over Italy in it with the 91st on fam' flights a few years ago with guys flying the MilViz and I liked it just as well. It handled beautifully in the Italian Alps. I think I'll go and fly for an hour or so in Italy again right now.

ATC 43 South Atlantic Package

Ed and I have been flying off and on together working our way over to Italy. Glenn Duncan created an awesome FS9 package with the name ATC 43 SA which is short for Air Transport Command 1943 South Atlantic Route. It contains period airfields; vehicles; VASI and the routes to fly like the original pilots did to Africa, Italy, and CBI. Here I am at Georgetown, Guyana after flying from Florida to Cuba and then to here. Each flight is a one day affair. Trying to do this authentically rather than just spawning to Torretta. The B-17 and B-24 pilots who flew across the North Atlantic Route to England had a lot longer flight which the guys in the 91st BG Virtual duplicate. Will keep on flying and posting and anxiously awaiting the FR B-24s but the Virtavia is a nice "bird" though it shows its age once in a while.

ATC 43 SA FSX/P3Dx

By the way, the scenery we are using has been totally updated for FSX, FSX Steam and P3D all versions by my partner edackridge and is available for download here at the SOH in the Warbirds Library. It will also be on our website: 461st Bomb Group Liberaiders which is in development and just about ready for its initial release. The scenery is really great and is as authentic for 1940's as the sims allow. Come and join us on our next flight TBA. :loyal:
