Dimus' Locher, in the Real Air Scout- FANTASTIC SCENERY!

SOH-CM-2023
Having seen what Dimus hath wrought... and needing to fly for a while, after being away... I watched the approach videos on YT, loaded up his Locher and this is what awaited...

Here we are idling and thinking the departure through...
jKs5UaB.jpg

It's full brakes, stick full back, 2 notches of flap and full power.... off the brakes, ease the stick, wait until you hear her get light and lift off just as the hill slopes away. Then it's a maximum performance climb for Wires 1 and 2...

p8KtIJb.jpg

Ease the nose forward, pull back a LITTLE power and 1 notch of flap and keep climbing to pass the Locker Pylons and Church on your left...

fjannN3.jpg

A fairly tight turn while the engine cools a bit and you get some flap out (I promise you'll need them)...

Upa2N52.jpg

Church on the left, along with the Locher Pylons, cross Church Hill fairly low and start looking...

Here come the ENTRY CABLES... and then be sure to call out CABLES ONE

H4kr8sN.jpg

Call out CABLES TWO and after crossing hug the right side....

SudhKSJ.jpg

It's on to CABLES THREE.... you had better stay right until short final....

Try for the well used spot, just right of the hangars.... if you're a tad high it's ok... the landing roll won't be long... promise...

Stopping promptly is assured....

Again, I am forced to realize how grateful I am to belong here at SOH... from Dimus, to Cees, to Ed and others... we are privileged to share this beautiful bit of work.... thank-you!

Glad you're enjoying it!

I notice some issues with the mesh which can be bettered by increasing your mesh slider to 2m and installing a better than default mesh like Freemeshx. Otherwise you have found all the POIs. :applause:

V-

I used to run my MESH (Pilots 2018 Ultimate) full right, however, Orbx keeps insisting on 5m- so that's where it currently is..... keep hoping they will increase the "resolution" to allow for full value from 3rd party mesh. Still, in the pilot's seat, there's no time for anything but flying by the seat of your pants :)

BRILLIANT STUFF MATE!

That's right, however the 2m will clear some of the ground sticking through the vertical rock walls around the hangar. I could not find another solution than refining mesh setting to solve that.

Thanks again for the kind words!

Dimus,

This scenery worked perfectly first time right out of the box in P3D4 following your instructions. Have done two takeoffs - the easy part - and just made it out in the Turbine Duke. Watch out for the cables! Now need to try landing . . .

Also, was able to start in the hangar (A36 Bonanza) and taxi all the way up the ramp to the active launch point - with no building crashes (I almost always have crash detection on) which I really appreciate. Been having building crash problems with some of the freeware carriers and large jets as of late!

I think this scenery deserves an award of some kind.

Carl,

Beautiful shots as always!

And this scenery is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD!! I mean... my God, man!!!

I installed it tonight, and flew in from Bolzano. Took the Milviz Beaver on that initial leg. She made short work of getting in there, as you'd imagine... but watching each new set of cables approach was a bit puckering, for sure!

Made a few takeoffs and landings in the Beaver, then loaded up the A2A J-3 Cub and slewed her down to the hangar - figured I'd see if she could climb the hill too (the Beaver made it just fine). Turns out the J-3 can make it just fine too! Now, I was skeptical of climb performance after takeoff; thought I might have to duck UNDER the cables lol... but nope, she climbed right out. Flew to the church, did a 180, stayed high, and punched in a full rudder slip over cables 3. Piece o cake.

This is one of the best freeware sceneries I've ever seen. And performance is stellar... the Beaver can choke down my old computer around even some relatively simple bush sceneries, but this place was butter smooth. Whatever you did in the optimization department, thanks!

I took screenshots too... and then saw Carl beat me to posting them. Carl, mind if I add them here? I don't mean to take over your thread, but I hate to spam the forum with similar posts too... and this place deserves all the exposure it can get!

Thanks again, Dimus!

Andrew-

Of course, please do... looking forward to seeing your piccies... they are always stunning! Watching V’s video made me fire up my A2A 182 and go for a ride... that was fun too! Planning on installing the Real Air TD next for some real knee knocking arrivals.... will post that for sure, once I clean out my shorts!

It is really the bees knees in scenery.... totally brilliant!

Being a big fan and frequent user of the LLH altiports this scenery is nothing short of A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
Holy batman, what a jewel!
Thanks a thousand, Dimus.

Thanks Carl. Figured it would be polite to ask first ;-).

Here's a few more than probably necessary, just for Dimus's review. All looked good to me though!

In and out in the Beaver from Bolzano, day, nice weather. Then out in the Beaver on a misty dawn run. Then out and back in the Cub on a misty fall morning.

FSXA, ORBX global but not vector, no EU OpenLC. REX texture direct. Old computer, GTX430 card.

FANTASTIC SHOTS ANDREW!

I should have gotten that Accusim Cub when it was on sale.... next time for sure!

Dimus has certainly knocked Locher for a Six!

Best- C

Thanks... Postimg optimizes those more than I'd like, but that's enough fighting with it. Good nough lol.

Yes, you should pick up that Cub. You'll get nowhere fast... but it's so much fun to fly, that's ok!

Thanks Andrew. It looks like it's supposed to look, except for the extreme slope on the left side, which is much better if you use FreemeshX. I'm also very glad to see that it performs well on your rig.

I have not bothered with night textures or lights as I figured noone would use this place at night but you seem to have pushed your luck!:biggrin-new:

Those lights I see are probably ORBX lights on the road.

V-

I have flown several evening approaches... with Pilot’s 2018 Ultimate, Orbx FTX Global, Vector + EU LC and the results are MORE than satisfying... this scenery never disappoints!

I can only attach myself to the praises anthems,
really top notch, Dimus :encouragement:
I enjoy it very much and it works great with P3D4 and FTX.
Thanks a lot !!
