Dino F-35B VTOL in P3D V4? Can't make work with x64 gauge

Kalonji

Members +
Hi F-35 pilots !!

I installed last freeware version of Dino's F35B on P3D V4.3 and even if I installed perfectly the new gauge (the 64bit one) with the visual C++ redists VTOL still doesn't want to work...
I dump fuel, but it stays at 23% fuel when finished (on every tutorial video I see it going down to 17% :/ ) and then I push the VSTOL button but when I look on the MFD "hover" stays red and I can't activate it :banghead:

Anybody has idea for me to make it work please ?!

Thanks in advance for any help :wavey:

Not sure, but it's possible the fuel dump gauge hasn't been changed or updated for 64bit. I don't have the freeware version, so I'm guessing a bit here! Lol.
Have you tried manually setting the fuel level via the sim menu and trying the VTOL then?

I have no problems with my installation, so it's not an incompatibility issue.

One thing to check is that you don't have duplicate-named gauges in the shared gauges folder.

P3D always looks and uses these first so if there are any historic gauges which are not 64-bit in there it will try to use those instead of the local ones.

Hope that helps

Andy

thanks pals

Thanks a lot guys for answering :)

I'll try that fuel thing first when at home...

I'm not really a P3D specialist, can you be a little more precise about that shared gauge thing Andy please ?!

I read the gauge readme and put the 64bit dll in the airplane/F-35A/panel folder then edited the panel.cfg file...

Anything else I should have done ?!

Thanks alot for all !

John "Kalon"

Have a look in the P3D root folder (where the exe is) and locate the gauges folder, check if there is a sub-folder called rcb-gauges. If there is, delete it!

Alternatively, temporarily rename the gauges folder and then run P3D and try the VTOL function, if it works properly you know it's a duplicate gauge name.

Thanks to Rob B (rcberand) who was the first to identify this being an issue, as well as making the VSTOL possible at all

Hope this helps

Andy

That shouldn't be an issue with v4.3. LM fixed the gauge lookup order bug, but it's worth a try.

Thanks a lot !!

A really big thanks to Dave, dumping fuel via aircraift payload and fuel window was the right thing to do !!
I can now enjoy VTOL at NELLIS AFB and do some good practicing :)

But I'd like to thank you too Andy as the gauge trick will certainly be of an use someday !!

Anyway thanks a lot mates, you really helped a lot !!

See you guys,

regards from France ^^

Glad I could help. :encouragement:
I don't have the freeware version installed, but I'm guessing it probably uses Doug Dawson's fuel dump gauge. If that's the case, then that could be replaced with the 64bit version as well, then the fuel dump will work properly.

Well, indeed I used the gauge I found here while looking on forums for a solution : https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/resources/avm-gauge-xml-to-simconnect-interface.202/

I went through every steps, even reinstalled visual c++ redists but is still wouldn't work that's why I came here as I heard only good things about that forum ;)
And I'm really glad I did it :biggrin-new:

Thanks again guyz, it's working now, but I'll try to figure ou why it won't work while dumping fuel thanks to F-35B HDD..
I'll post again here if I find a solution :)

Have a nice day !!

A question for you.

I have P3DV4.3. There is already a F-35 that came with this version. How do I install THIS version of Dino's F-35A, as there is a default version with the same name? Thanks, Pete

Hi pal,

I'm not at home now but iirc default version is named F35A in the airplane or aircraft folder but in Dino's version the folder is called F-35A not F35A so you ccan install it side to side without any problem :)
Hope it answers the question ;)

Have fun with that plane, but I must admit I d idn't even try the stock one, I switched to Dino's directly and put it in my fav and I set up only fav planes to show at startup screen ;)
You'll tell me if it's worth a try :D

John "Kalon"

I just looked at my install. It's in FSX:SE, but I think it's representative. Dino's is indeed got the dash in it. F-35A, etc.
Don't forget, you absolutely must have the F-35A, and either or both of the other two you choose, all in the same folder. The other two versions have many things aliased to the A model.

Just so you have confirmation :D

Euhhh ...

For people knowing me, probably a trivial question ....LoL

Why would anyone be interrest in flying the F35A (either default the P3Dv4 version or Dino's version) with Dino's B-variant (or C-variant, for carrier operations) available too ???

Cheers, Rob

Well, Rob,
I don't know about actually FLYING the A variant, obviously that's the version for the zoomies to use for their usual 15,000' runway landings.
But as I mentioned, you at least must have it present in you Aircraft folder for the others to have cockpits, sounds, you know, the silly little details so many people desire :biggrin-new:

I haven't loaded it, other to than to approve the gauges. After that, it just sits in the hangar, gathering dust. And in Yuma, that takes about 2 hours for a layer so thick you can't read anything on the fuselage anymore... :mixed-smiley-027: :playful:

I hated Yuma with a passion...

You could always copy the sounds, panel, gauges etc from the A to the B and/or C so they are stand alone. I tend to do that with most aircraft that alias to another variant. Takes up a bit more disc space, but then I don't need to have the whole lot installed.

I have no problems with my installation, so it's not an incompatibility issue.

One thing to check is that you don't have duplicate-named gauges in the shared gauges folder.

Having lots of problems here. Could you please show your relevant panel.cfg entries? I can round up the the gauges to match.

Thanks!

. . doesn't Rob B’s SVTOL gauge also need to be 64 bit - and not just the fuel dump gauges (that one seems to work)?

On getting into hover mode, the plane just zooms off on the ground in a straight line ..

Hi expat, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Logged in using an old account ID and couldn't post.

Sent you a PM from my old username so you can ignore that.

Glad you have it working again
