Dino's F35 released!

This F-35 is fun to use in Ai formations. Time for some Cat and mouse in the Arctic. The F-35 is the mouse. Dinner is served:salute:.

Afterburner Beta

Folks, I have the Afterburner Beta packaged up but am still encountering very minor issues. The biggest being that the Slime Lights cease to function with the gauge in place. I will eventually work my way around this when time permits. At this point, I do not plan on uploading a flawed file even though they are minor ones. If anyone wishes to get a hold of the file, please just PM me with your email and I will get it out to you. Hopefully I can get the bugs out and make it available for upload/download before too much longer.

F35 models?

Just wondering if there will be a USMC F35B model. I am sure that would be allot of work, so just a question. I was looking at the roll out video of the F35 and all the models (A,B,C) are very cool.

Frame rates are OK with settings at medium on a fairly good machine. When I unchecked "high-res 3d cockpit" the frames went steady at 30fps locked. There is not much visible difference in appearance, but the frames are much better.

Cheers,

Chris

Dino, you did a marvellous job on the F-35! As mentioned earlier i'm gonna make RNLAF paints for it (already working on the first one).
The only thing disturbing needs a fix by your hand:
Still the drifts while standing still (i think you should work on a good fix, meeting your interpretation of realism with no drifts. One fix for all customers).
Are you planning on an update/upgrade with more weapons of choice, and possibly on an ordonance dropping capability like the IRIS F-16D?
Would be great if an interface is possible where i can choose the loadout myself, for different mission configurations (e.g. CAS, AI, OCA, DCA, RECCE, TASMO, Ferry etc).

Otherwise, with the MFD and all..."You boldly went where no man has gone before"

Two thumbs up! :salute:

Thanks

Once again, thank you all for purchasing the F-35, and, most important for the very positive reception.

I've added a post on my blog:
http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/2010/08/f-35a-lightning-ii-for-fsxacceleration.html
to gather feedback, comments and provide some basic support.
There you can also find some of the answers to questions asked in this thread, inlcuding the making of the F-35B, F-35C and MB.339.

My main constraint in developing new planes is time - I have a full time job as design engineer (for a company that,by the way,manufactures also electronic components for military avionics) and a social life - believe it or not :)
This,unfortunately, leaves very little time for my hobbies... and I need to evaluate carefully how to spend this time. At present, support/improvement of the F-35, along with F-14 and T-45 remakes/upgrades, are probably enough to saturate the time I have.

As for the F-35A, I'll definitely release a patch/upgrade. But I would prefer to release a single few "upgrades", rather than many small fixes.

As for the weapons configurations, I do not have plans for droppable ordnance - but I am considering additional weapons configurations (1-2 more) - although I am unsure what the typical loadouts will be (I've seen the ones I've included in actual JSF presentations)...

That's good news. Also like your communication and support to customers.
You have made a winner here!

Dino,

Other weapon/load suggestions

From left to right starting with outer station ( loads with brackets denote bay stations)

1, CAS= AIM-9X - GBU-12 - Fuel tank - [AIM-120C] - [GBU-12] - [GBU-12] - [AIM-120C] - Fuel tank - GBU-12 - AIM-9X

2, AI= AIM-9X - GBU-38 - Fuel tank - [AIM-120C] - [GBU-38] - [GBU-38] - [AIM-120C] - Fuel tank - GBU-38 - AIM-9X

3, Sweep/escort= AIM-9X - AIM-120C - Fuel tank - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - Fuel tank - AIM-120C - AIM-9X

4, QRA= AIM-9X - AIM-9X - AIM-120C - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - AIM-120C - AIM-9X - AIM-9X

5, Ferry= AIM-9X - Fuel tank- Fuel tank - [AIM-120C] - [empty - [empty] - [AIM-120C] - Fuel tank - Fuel tank - AIM-9X

6, DCA= AIM-120C all stations

7, OCA= AIM-9X - AIM-9X - Fuel tank - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - [AIM-120C] - Fuel tank - AIM-9X - AIM-9X

CAS=Close Air Support
AI=Air Interdiction
QRA=Quick Reaction Alert
DCA=Defensive Counter Air
OCA=Offensive Counter Air

All loads are suggestive for the type, but a realistic possibility.

Edit: The current AIM-9 seems to be either the AIM-9M or AIM-9Li, the AIM-9X is the latest in the AIM-9 series with a totally different missile shape.
Edit 2: a version with empty external weapon pylons, or loaded with either GBU-12, 38 or a mix with inerts (blue bomb-body) would be nice too.

Dino, just bought this, in part because it looks fantastic, and in part as a thank you for the awesome F-14 and T-45. :) Plus the really fair price made it a no-brainer, and I like to reward devs who create top-notch planes for under $20!

Just superb attention to detail on the various models. I'm really impressed. Should you ever decide to do the B or C, I'd pay for those too. :) (I'd prefer a C, since FSX can't really do VTOL without unrealistic trickery.)

For folks wondering why there's not a B and C in this package, just take a look at the PDF linked from the chicken-test video on the first page of the thread. Just the canopy on VTOL version is a completely different shape...

Great work again Dino, thanks for your contributions bro! :salute:

...
Now, I can agree with the "trickery" part of your post.
But I'm curious to know why you use the term "unrealistic"; for obvious reasons :icon_lol:

Regards, Rob Barendregt

Just that FSX doesn't support thrust vectoring, so any VTOL stuff I'd seen used weird tricks with helicopter flight models, giant flaps, etc. to try to simulate the experience.

BTW, Dino, mean to compliment you on the superb manual as well. Packed with detail! Nicely done, and something that devs seem to rarely get credit for.
