Discovering France!

SOH-CM-2026
This all started innocently enough with me trying to correct the default Courchevel. After placing a satellite ground texture, I realized that "something" was way off, by a mile, literally, lol. After contemplating what I was about to get myself into, I decided to purchase the LLH "Courchevel". . .a real masterpiece. If you don't have. . .give it a look.

Anyway, now that I had that fixed and I started flying around, I realized what a great visual experience most of France was and started looking into other airport sceneries. Thus far I've downloaded and installed 28 airports and 3 area upgrades (The Island of Corsica, Provence and Marseille) and new mesh for all of France. Another thing I found was that almost all of those airports incorporate custom ground textures, custom buildings and custom autogen. . .extremely well done. I downloaded the French Airport Locator file from flightsim.com and have been using that, plus the great freeware scenery website to populate as much of France as I can. Just when things get boring as hell, up pops new possibilities, lol, go figure.

The shots are just a few I've taken since I started flying in France. . .these are on the way to, and on the Island of Corsica.

The FranceVFR group productions are top notch!
I've been to Corsica myself before and flew around in a C172 there as well as travelled all over the island by car. The FSX scenery is so detailed that I can spot raods I drove and places I have seen from above with stunning similarity.

Glad you like it,
Mark

Occitania VFR

Hi,

If you want to explore the Southwest of France then you owe it to yourselves to check out Occitania VFR (freeware VFR scenery for the Southwest) http://occitania.gratisim.fr/index.html

And a number of great french airports (a lot of them being "altisurfaces" or non level mountain airfields) are available here http://www.vf-air.com/FSX2.htm

These websites are in french but dig out Google translate and you'll do fine :). The most important french you need is "telechargement", this means download.

Bonne Chance
Gavin

Funny that ! We were at Courchevel the day before yesterday. Still a few days left of our vacation here in the Alps before I have to return to the simulated version again :icon_lol:
