Do You need a new Corsair? (AH)

...
I have several very nice Corsairs sitting on my hard disk, which are just sitting there. But I have to confess.... again I'm already tempted to purchase it......... :santahat:
..

By FS8 Standards, or?

The Aircraft Factory Corsair is pretty decent. But isn't that the only one? And it's what, 5+ years old now?

As to the A2A Corsair, be sure to get the original FDE that I did for that one as opposed tho the one A2A made up. I also had made a nice FS9 FDE for the CFS2 AH plane, which I never released as Bazz might have lost some actual FS9 Sales. A very nice aircraft even in FS9. I don't remember if I ever tried a FSX FDE for it though the SOH Donationware planes were actually developed in FSX FDE wise.

Great to see this! Tom

Do I need a birdcage Corsair? Hell yeah! This is great news and those screenshots look excellent.

Just what floats my boat!
:triumphant:
And might I make a suggestion, the original night fighter Corsairs were 'Birdcages' (F4U-2N?) with wing pod radar.
Not a lot built but maybe you could include it.
Please.
:encouragement:

I like it! One to add to my growing list. Maybe I'm wrong but I have a feeling this Corsair may lead to other variants in the future?

If we are at the request stage, may I throw one in for a clipped wing Fleet Air Arm one?
Please.

I dp hope so! I'm glad for the people who like birdcage Corsairs, but I would very much like a state-of-the-art bubble hood Corsair. But perhaps I'll buy this Corsair because it looks so nice.
Ehh... TacPac?

Currently the plan is to release the F4U-1 Bidcage only. To make other versions requires a LOT of work and time. The cockpits are different for one thing and there are many small differences to airframes. The moore complex a build becomes the more expensive and time-consuming to make. This pushes up prices and extends the release time. A British version is one thing but it does n ot stop at model variation. Flight dynamics are different as the British made the Corsair behave on a carrier and the cockpits run British instrumentation and other fittings.

Let me take you through the average impact a request for extra versions would represent:

1) 3D Modeling variations and code
2) VC Modeling variations and code, programming for functions and texturing
3) 4 - 6 more texture liveries
4) extensions to any paintkit
5) Flight Dynamics variations
6) Manuals to be written and illustrated
7) Effects and lighting altered to suit

So, what would be fair, double the price and delivery around April 2016?

Guys, we can look at variations by all means but on a service-pack basis only and even then if the market indicates a real need. We have other fish n the pan.

We love you all.

You're right of course. What to someone like me looks like a simple shaving of a few inches off the wingtip has a lot more to it. I was overlooking the fact that the whole point of the exercise, apart from allowing the thing to fit in British hangar decks, was to improve the landing characteristics. Maybe one day, though!

@Bazzer - I really don't understand the flak you guys get for your efforts, I hope it stops. (the flak - not the efforts)

I like the idea of the early Corsair, its not just another F4u and I expect AH will do it justice for a fair price. Thank You

Dynamics wise probably not too much of a mod. A little shorter tips slightly changes the roll rate and small change of the stall speed, a little more torque roll, and maybe a small change to the main gear dynamics.

Cockpits and instruments, now there is some work!

Cheers: T

Fully understood and at this level of nice quality, the Birdcage is a definite purchase for me and if there's any possibility of subsequent models (F4U-1A, etc), I'd be more than willing to buy one as a whole new model.

Tell you what fliger, when this model is released how about a modified FM for us FAA fans? I could live with a US cockpit as long as the Corsair had a less floaty landing character per the British mods. Please?

Joseph,

As I have 2 FS9 install and 1 FSX install there is pretty much room to store Corsairs. Therefore I think I have more Corsairs on my HD than you have teeth in your mouth.

I'm not planning to count them, but I have the full AH Corsair FS9 Mega package installed, the Alpha Ciel Blue version and the Airplane Factory one. And I can recall I have flown one of them this year.

And I think the AF Corsair is even older. But I'm quite 5+ and still pretty decent.

Cheers,
Huub

Ditto, well said!
I could imagine 3 seperate packs, the early model, the intermediate (late WW2), and a post WW2 pack with the korean war types. And maybe a civilian racer pack, like Milviz did with the P-38.

Cheers,
Mark
