A number of years back, I held the vaulted position of Assistant Manager at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store....yes, I know you all envy me for that LOL! One day, I was coming off my lunch break and headed up to the register to see if the Manager or the Cashier needed a break. Both women were trying to communicate with a deaf lady...and doing a horrible job of it. Firstly, neither of these women had what I would call good people skills....especially the manager, who was generally referred to by customers and staff using the 5 letter word for a female dog. They were both being very rude in their attempt to communicate with this lady...and the lady was on the verge of tears. When I walked up to the register, the gal grabbed a hold of my arm like she was in deep water and I was there to save her life. It took me 5 minutes to convince the manager and the cashier to go away and let me handle the situation...they both felt that they could more easily communicate with her since they were also women. Once the manager and cashier left the area, I was able to get the lady calmed down and to find out that she simply needed to use the bathroom.
