.......How to randomize the navigation lights of AI aircraft?

When flying at night i notice all AI aircraft have their navigation lights flashing simultaneously. I'd like to see them flash individually (would be a lot more realistic).

Suggestions appreciated. :wavey:

There has been a file available at AVSIM for many years now that does precisely that. I forget off hand the name of the file...

I found this............don't know if it will work for fsx, I am going to try it.

Asynchronous Aircraft Strobes Effect

File Description:
By default in FS9, the strobe lights on all aircraft flash in unison. These modified effects files alter the strobes so that each aircraft flashes randomly and with a different period than other aircraft, producing a much more realistic effect. Credit for this goes to the great community here at AVSIM - without other peoples' input, I would not have been able to make these modifications.

Open the default .fx files for strobes and beacons in Notepad and play with the values for "Rate=" in the "[Emitter.x]" sections.
I use "0.4, 0.41" for the strobes and it gives my slightly asynchronous flashes.

Yep! That is the filename. It does work in FSX just fine.

The suggestion to simply edit the timing in each .fx file works as well (which is all that was done to the replacement files after all)...
