Does MAAM Averner Convert?

Yes it will, but:

*forget the pilot, he's a 'no-show' after conversion so you'll need to install a pilot in the dp

*modify the air file and aircraft.cfg for CFS2 usage

*create a dp with armament

*reformat the textures to eliminate tranparencies

*replace the prop blur texture with something that looks better in CFS2

*completely overhaul the 2D and VC panel and replace all gauges with CFS2 compatibles

*sound is great - nothing needed with that

I wonder too what steps to take to convert the Avenger... I am working on both a P-51D and this one to convert them and I just can't get the Avenger to do so... any hints?

Bypass the Mk_Mdlc interface and use the command prompt method:

For direct FS9 to CFS2:

1---rename TBF/TBM mdl file to 'FS9.mdl'

2---commands:

MDLC /c FS9.mdl fs9.md2 F

MDLC /t FS9.md2

3---rename fs9.md2 back to original mdl name

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If this method fails then you must convert the mdl to FS8 first before CFS2:

1---rename TBF/TBM mdl file to 'FS9.mdl'

2---commands:

MDLC /f FS9.mdl

MDLC /t FS9.md8

MDLC /c FS9.mdt FS9.md2 F

3---rename fs9.md2 back to original mdl name

Thanks for the advice!

I am running into Runtime error 216 at 001F:04F4... I think it has to do with Vista...

Why do I need to change the name to FS9?

It worked! I just had to fix my instalation of MDLC... thank you very, very much Bear. Your experience and knowldge is outstanding. Thank you very much. My grandfather flew an Avenger so I have a soft spot for this plane and I wanted to make some missions for the Maam plane in CFS2... now I can!

n the command prompt window i get an error message after the last command MDLC /c FS9.mdt FS9.md2 F

It says "CFS2.MD2 not found" and ends.

EDIT: I got it to work using beta version 117 and the model shows up in the aircraft preview window, but will not load the model into free flight.

Are you getting a flight model error message? If so, you'll need to format the *.air file for CFS2...or just replace it with the stock avenger air file and make small adjustments to engine and fuel tank locations (i think the MAAM bird may be a little larger than the stocker in scale).

Hey Bearcat
Yes it’s a flight model error...
I was trying just to use some stock FS9 files like the DC3 for an experiment. Then I would like to try an A2A aircraft.
So you are saying that I need to use CFS2 airfiles of similar aircraft? What do I rename?
What program do I use to format the .air file? if I go that route.
Sorry but I am not well educated in these areas
Thanks

For the Avenger I started by using the air file of overhauled stock avenger and I am using Aired (got it at simaviation website) to edit it... it is slow going, but it is starting to show some results....
